So, I'm moving out this Christmas holiday after exams and will be living on my own. I've already started working on the place, replacing all the cabinets, toilets, sinks, and bathtubs and the next thing on my list is paint.
Let me give some information on the place first. The place is 1200 square feet with 4 rooms (3 + 1 storage room), 1.5 bathrooms, a kitchen and a combined livingroom/diningroom area. I'm thinking about using 3 colors, as I dont want to spend too much money on painting each room a different color. What I had in mind was this:
1. Livingroom + Extra bedroom: a middleish blue color...kinda like an ocean blue. I havent bought furniture yet, but Im thinking of getting white colored couches and dining table to fit with the blue.
2. Studyroom + master bedroom: light leafish green...My desk is dark brown, as are most of my shelves, so the studyroom will be brown/green and look tree-like.
3. Bathrooms/Kitchen: ??? Basically, Im planning on having them the same color, but I have no idea what.
I've run this idea through with my parents and a few friends, and they've had these things to say:
My dad: a deep shade of blue makes the livingroom look small.
My dad's friend: The combination of blue and green makes the place feel cold.
Friend: White furniture gets dirty easily.
Basically, my dad wants a lighter shade of blue, and my dad's friend thinks that there should be some redish/warm colors to compliment the "cold" ones.
Just curious what some people on this forum think, as there are some pretty "artistic" people here, haha. Basically, what colors go well together, which colors are good/bad for living rooms/bedrooms/washrooms/kitchens, and which colors are practical.
