I'm fairly sure this idea has been floating around in many people's head for ages now, but we all want to see level branched versions of the existing PQs so the high leveled players can be allowed into all that content that may or may not have been available at the time they were at the set level.
So I thought; "Why not throw together some convoluted excuse for them to do it?", and here I am.
Anyway, as the Cygnus and Aran already know, the Black Magician and those who wish to revive him are bad guys. But what is the motive for any of the explorers to get involved? Why wouldn't they just be content slapping pigs and blasting undead dinosaurs all day?
My idea is sorta simple, although it would require involvement in all versions of MS in order to not screw up the story. I haven't played a Cygnus 100% yet, but I do know about the puppeteer at least. He was a member of the Dark(Black?) Wings who was attempting to manipulate monsters. Now given the abilities of manipulation and following along those lines, what comes to mind? The manipulation of memory.
So we make a new high ranking member of the Dark(Black?) Wings who appears to be a benevolent character at first when characters get to level 130 and he offers a "charm" to help in our everyday training beyond that point. However, as expected it would be a trick, and the character would have their memories warped in an attempt to block Explorer's involvement due to fear; also mis-associating him as the blame for them.
I'm still playing around with the idea of it voiding the first PQ's records entirely, or just have a new Corrupted PQ version in the logs that can be deleted at any time if you re-obtain said charm if you wanted to get the item over again or something since some would like it, and some would not.
Moving on, the player would contact someone most likely in Time Temple (since that place seems to be well associated with memories) to be able to travel into their memories and restore order. (Yes, broken logic at traveling into your personal memories in groups, but I doubt NEXON would see a problem with that.) You fight through the PQs as you normally would with monsters of an appropriate level and redesigned stages in places to avoid exploits of higher job skills. The stage design of each would also have a far darker foreboding feeling to it (I'd love to see ludi like this). The bosses would be far harder, corrupt darker versions of their originals to start with, and when defeated, the stage would have it's full color restored and the original weak boss would spawn (yay card hunters).
After S ranking the PQ, your memory of that PQ would be "restored", and you would receive a Medal of that PQ (not of significant stats). The ideal situation would be to restore memory to all of your PQs and trade in all of your medals for a single ring with decent stats (Untradeable, One of a Kind, No Karma, and possibly Epic with levels). I suppose the exp would have to be decent for people to put up with it, but I don't think it should be as much as a good party could get you. The level layout would be the following:
-130-200 Modified KPQ
-135-200 Modified LPQ
-138-200 Modified EPQ
-140-200 Modified OPQ
-145-200 Modified MPQ
-150-200 Modified PPQ
Yes, these are only the PQs with bosses, but that is why I selected them. Ultimately, this is for the true Card Hunters and those who with to collect an item that shows that you accomplished something rather than payed enough to chaos it to hell. Sure to some people the level 90 pirate hat is sort of like that, but people just go, "Doesn't that thing only give +5 all? Who cares?". I personally hope to see a sense of accomplishment return to this game. And if I can do this in a manner where I can also remember the better times, all the better.
Please leave feedback if it is needed excluding the following questions, and if you feel like you can suggest it somehow around KMS, please do. I know it's full of stereotypes and such, so I can hardly claim originality anyway, so no credits are necessary.
-Why too high for Cygnus?
--Cygnus have plenty of chances to do these PQs in their own levels if they don't just leech the whole way, except for EPQ.
-Why not allow Aran in? (Void)
--If they were to loose their memory, considering how much of a hero they were, you'd think they'd want to screw with their heads a little differently. Besides, it just doesn't work with the story. I'm trying to get Explorers more involved in the Black Magician so they don't become completely obsolete even in terms of storyline. (Besides, I don't really trust these "Episodes" of NEXON America)
-Why not make it all 17X+?
--Where do you think a majority of players quit? Besides, nothing stopping them from enjoying this either.
-Ring stats Plox
.
--Hmm, well, I do want it to be something people would pursue, yet I don't want to add another game breaking item, so I think something useful to each class would be nice. So making it class specific could be a good idea. Maybe give warriors speed(8) and acc and a few stat points for (3 each)Str and Dex. For Theives, give them a little HP (150?), luck (5), and some avoid to increase their already godly dodging. For Mages, who need stat equivalence the most, give 10-15 int and say 250 MP. For bowmen, 200 hp and a little dex/str(2 each). For pirates... well, we always screw over pirates, so I say give them a ring with 7 stats on it however the player wants to have it (in str/dex) and a pretty decent amount of def (if def actually worked
). I dunno really.
So... yeah. 5 Bucks says I get a link to someone saying basically the same thing in the first 5 replies.
EDIT: Changed my mind, I suppose Aran and legendary classes could join in too.
