u should consider that sometimes the media gives u distorted information too. according to einstein's theory no object can travel faster than the speed of light. however it's just a theory, there have been many scientists trying to figure out if the constant speed of light is changing or not to overthrow einstein's theory but none have succeeded yet. but who knows if there's a method to travel faster than that. after all we only lived for thousands of year and in order for a theory to become a fact it has to be true for billions of years

the fact that it has 3 suns is not the reason why there can't be life there. in fact a large number of stars are binary or trinary systems (about 1/3). It takes a long time to travel, sure, but that's far from a show stopper. Ever heard of a "generation ship"?

Beyond that, there are possibilities to avoid relativity while effectively traveling faster than light. For example, a wormhole creates a bridge which is much shorter than if you tried to go around the long way. It makes the two points physically closer, but you would still probably need to travel below lightspeed to cross the bridge. From the perspective of normal space, however, they'd have traveled a massive distance in a short amount of time - essentially, faster than light.

A Fact is evidence for a theory. "The Earth is round" is a fact. That fact supports the theory of Gravity because the Theory of Gravity states that planets form in spherical shapes.
No matter what happens, Gravity will always be a theory. Relativity will always be a theory. Doesn't matter if we live for billions of years and find no contradictory evidence. Lack of evidence doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

If BBC or MSN told me something about space travel, I would be wary, but a TV Show dedicated to "The Universe" is a lot more reliable because it quotes several professors during the show.

wouldn't more than 1 star(sun) would emit such a large amount of ultraviolet light and others that it's nearly impossible for life to form?

yes a lot of show are true, but a lot are twisted (not false, but twisted) so that they get the fund for it. sometimes even organizations needed funds to do things so they twisted the truth a little bit to satisfy what the audience wants to hear. and i know this from a credible professor/astronomer

Mercury gets a lot of UV light.

And a single sun, under the wrong conditions, makes it hard for life to form too.

It's all about the right conditions (distance, size, among other things) and nothing says the right conditions can't be in a multi-star system.

Also to note, single star systems are actually quite rare. Jupiter would've been the Sun's sister star, but it just didn't get enough mass during the creation of the solar system.

For all we know, there are life forms out there that have evolved to live perfectly fine on planets that we wouldn't even be able to go near. We don't know any life forms on our plane that can survive that, but there can be unknown creatures out there with bodies capable of withstanding temperatures as hot as the sun. Their bodies being stronger than any material known to man.

The question isn't whether or not there is life out there; bacteria count as life. The question is whether there is intelligent (human-level being the lowest possible value) life.

As for worm holes, I'm pretty sure they're impossible with our current understanding of physics.

Oh no, I wasn't implying there isn't life out there. It's just people were commenting on how rare single star systems are, and saying that life in those galaxies would basically be impossible due to the extreme conditions. But we don't know for sure. Nothing on our planet could survive such harsh conditions, but there could be something out there that can.
