I was near Ground 0 on 9/11/01, between the students calling their parents that worked in the towers to see whether they were still alive, and an all-pervasive stampede-like panic that gripped my campus, I really never thought anybody in America would ever find the whole thing as something to laugh about.

Spawning humor from a serious event, in many cases, isn't meant to belittle it. It's just subject matter, just like any other subject matter. What it actually stands for is irrelevant, unless one is actually using it to make a point a la political cartoons or satirical pieces. Which isn't this at all.

though i agree with quantact, sometimes the best way to handle a situation is to laugh about it. besides, i find it hilarious how, 8 years later, we still havent begun rebuilding, and were still fighting a useless war in the middle east, all because some wacko nut job with diabetes managed to convince some angsty angry muslims to kill themselves to get 72 [male] virgins in heaven. yeah, thats exactly what i want at the pearly gates, a bunch of fat, pimply, greasy, smelly, stinky men in their 20's~40's playing with their Yu-Gi-Oh cards and jerking off to rule 34 images of their childhood cartoons.
