Grendel won't let me advance to 2nd job

I'm a lvl 30 mage @ 96% currently so almost ready to lvl again. I've been hunting tokens and got the new helm. What happens after you do the quest? Grendel mentioned something after returning the shredded letter but I can't remember, lol. I noticed that the 2nd Job advancement quest isn't open. Anyone know why? Will there be any problems taking the 2nd job at lvl 31? Thanks for your expertise.

I can't help you with your advancement problem, but I can say for certain it's definitely safe to advance past level 30. Just don't spend any SP you earn 31+ (unless you don't want to use it in 2nd job lol).

There isn't a quest in the quest log for 2nd job advancement. You just need to follow what grendel says and go hunt some monsters by talking to the NPC 3 maps north of ellinia, at the top.

You all are great! Hmm, maybe not all the SP is spent. Very good suggestion. I did enter Grendel's house but the quest bubble didn't appear above his head so there was nothing to click on. So still stumped.

He says you need to take the letter he gives you and go to the 2nd job magician instructor, kill monsters in the map the instructor sends you to, get 30 dark marbles from them, the instructor then gives you mark of hero and you go back and give it to grendal and then he asks what job you'd like.

Sorry I wasted your time. My searches here have been unsuccessful- probably putting in the wrong search terms. Thanks for the hidden street tip. I don't have a whole lot of time to research stuff. Thanks for all your input.
