Movie recommendations.

Er, are you guys CHOOSING not to read my initial post :f6: Also, a lot of these movies I have already seen

Glad to see another Pan's Labyrinth fan out there! Keep in mind that while I do like normal horror movies, the majority of my favorite movies are comedic horror and zombie flicks. If you dislike corny, smart-aleck horror films, ignore this post. I'm not sure of ALL the movies you have seen, so I'm just posting all that I have seen and enjoyed. Sorry if you have seen them though. ;P

Srs biznes:
-A Haunting in Connecticut; has a lot of jump scares, but a good story, an unsettling atmosphere, and wasn't an overall bad movie.
-Quarantine/REC (in spanish); o shi--a movie that has people that react SMARTLY to a zombie epidemic! You won't see a blondie run around the mob here, just some kickass action and a couple of surprising turns.
-Prom Night; your typical obsessed stalker/killer, and while it had much more potential, gives a decent watch.
-Ju-On(The Grudge); the acting is better, but still corny, as all Japanese movies, however, you get more of a backstory and exploration of the curse compared to the American version. More creative deaths.
-Ghost Ship; I don't know about you, but this movie scares the pomegranate out of me. Doesn't help that I saw it as a kid first...

For your funny bone:
-Drag Me to Hell; the director of this movie made the Evil Dead and Army of Darkness movies. The film could be considered cheesy, a bit 'lame', and brief in plot, but I love me some good corn. It has a good balance of horror and humor.
-Jennifer's Body; I don't think it's out on DVD yet, I saw it in theaters a while ago, and while it's mostly Megan Fox going, "i'm hawt", the satire and overdone personalities of the characters make up for it. No sex in here, despite the tone of the film, but if you don't feel like dealing with Fox or the references to it, skip it for another night.
-Brain Dead; world record for the most fake blood spilt, need I say more? It's just an over the top zombie movie with more chuckles than screams.

Someone has already mentioned Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead, and I agree. That's some good stuff there.

Dude, we have no way of knowing what you've seen, and I think most people are figuring that the movies in question are good enough to watch even if you generally stick to horror/thriller.

If that's strictly your genre, pick Devil's Advocate from my list and ignore the rest. DA is classified by some as a horror film.

Hot fuzz and shaun of the dead are just gold, i love them both, they are lol worthy xd

I bet you'd enjoy a lot of Hitchcock, only one I've seen though is North by Northwest.

i recommend OldBoy as well, if your into intense movies with a big ass twist at the end that makes you go WHAT THE FAAACKKK.

I was surprised and pleased to see this suggested. It's one of my favorite horror films.

I'll suggest Rosemary's Baby, since I don't think I saw it in this thread. It's an oldie, but one of the best of all time.

As far as movies in English go: Alice, Sweet Alice; Nosferatu, Suspiria, Jacob's Ladder, Salem's Lot, The Fog (1980 version), 28 Days Later, They, 28 Weeks Later, and Wait Until Dark.

If you wanna dip into the world of dubs: The Devil's Backbone, Alone (2007), Bunshinsaba, Ouija (2007), One Missed Call (2004), Ju-on: The Grudge, Shutter (2004), Noroi/The Curse, and A Tale of Two Sisters (2003).

Lastly, if you're willing to delve into experimental productions, you should check out Begotten. It's streamed in places like Youtube (I think it's non-profit).

2001 A Space Oddyssey is most likely one of the better movies anyone would watch. It's simply put, amazing. More of your taste, most likely, is Seven (Se7en).

As you also mentioned, The Mist is a great piece of work.
