most of you guys may know about gMS test server call : Tespia It was use to test for bugs and other stuff before it went to the official server (GMS)
it was open for testing on : no idea about this ( in feb ? )
and taken down on : June 18th,2008
and gms went on 0.56 on : June 19th, 2008. ( with NEW WZ Encryption and NEW EXE Cryptor called : Themida)
now I was thinking Odin was force to shut down on 17 June..

Reducing the number of bugs by only a half is reason enough to have Tespia.

I was being generous when I said half. I'm sure that if you looked back into the post-Tespia patch threads, you'd find hordes of people complaining about none of the glitches getting fixed.
It's annoying and pathetic to see people beg and cry over an extremely boring test server. They sugarcoat their desire to play a weak level 162 character with the whole "OH BUT ITS WHOLE PURPOSE IS TO MAKE THE ACTUAL PATCH BETTER" garbage.

There is no need for tespia outside of Korea, other than for a preview of content or to test content exclusive stuff which NexonAM has never done in their tespia.

Tespia 3 only removed one glitch, as far as I know, and I believe it was a server issue in the first place.

If its a testing server, why not bring it back, i mean it gives us maplers nothing to do but just go in and tell nexon what bugs to fix before releasing and giving us all less of a headache. Also, why not, i mean korea got a test server why not give it to us.

That's pretty much the main reason why Tespia got removed.
This would not have been the case if Nexon America didn't allow everyone to come in >_>

I don't mind having Tespia not coming back... I think most people did want Tespia for a quick leveling to 162, and having extremely broken characters... Bowmaster with Shadow Partner, Advanced Combo, and Hyper Body?~
And as mentioned before, Tespia didn't seem to fix many mistakes... zzz~
Waste of time, and Nexon's money but I'm sure that money was easily spared~

Now, I never participated in the first Tespia. From what I hear, the first Tespia was basically "OFFICIAL PRIVATE SERVER!!!" where nobody actually looked for glitches or anything. If they were a bit more strict in what they choose, perhaps putting in a bunch of intentional (easily to spot) glitches as well for a test, it could work.
It's day 1 of the patch and people were able to easily pick at a few glitches. If they got people like those, who actually pick up on what's a glitch and what isn't, then Tespia could eliminate stuff before it gets in the game.
Though, I don't see what the big deal is or anything. It'll get rid of some of the glitches, but it's not as if adding Tespia again will solve all of Maple's problems.
Edit: Serp isn't on now, I can see if Stefan remembers, but doubt it. Doubt Richan remembers either.

"Custom" drop, IIRC.
That said, Tespia could've been more useful if Nexon had bothered to actually make an effort for it; Level 162 for Ariant, the third testing session which was unusable for at least half the testing week... which lead right into the legendary 24 hour patch as well. (And I still believe that the two had the same cause, that the problem was fixed in Tespia and not recorded so when the patch went live, it was bug-hunting time all over again.)

If I remember correctly:
8x Exp, and a totally custom droprate, since the gMS drop rates are server sided. What was meso? 4 or 8?

Sorry, when I say "drop rate" I meant the meso drop. Should have specified.

95% sure that was custom as well, I remember it was based on EXP, so some outliers like Sakura Cellions dropped less than they would in Global. (where they drop the same as normal Cellions, or at least they did when I was last playing)
Not sure about exact formulas, I haven't checked that code for a while for obvious reasons.
Edit: Fine, looked it up, it is based on the monster EXP which is not quite the same as Global (see the Sakura Cellion example) and the default server multiplier rate on top of that was 8x by default.
