ISP Blocking Torrents

OH NOEZ!

I'm almost positive my ISP is blocking torrents. In 1 hour 12 minutes I downloaded a total of 19 kB... At any rate, can someone give me a suggestion as how to avoid such censorship?

I've been told to use encryption when trying to torrent, but I'm not sure how to do that. Which torrent client are you using?

If encryption fails for you, I believe the only other thing to do is switch to a ISP that doesn't block torrents.

My ISP is Clearwire and my client is µTorrent. Pretty standard really. I'll check to see how to do encryption. I enabled it, nothing seemed to happen... Although a quick google search indicated that my ISP sucks balls (I knew that) and that they do not allow BitTorrent traffic. I told my dad to switch to Charter -_-;

Encrypting your data in uTorrent is east. Go to 'Options' > 'Preferences' > 'Bittorrent' and find the 'Protocol Encryption. There, you can choose between 'enabled' and 'forced'. You should try 'enabled' first but it that doesn't speed things up try 'forced'. You can also try to tick the 'Allow legacy incoming connections' box, but it that doesn't speed things up, I'd recommend for you to un-check the box.

If you want to check if your ISP is blocking your torrent traffic, I recommend using the Glasnost tool to test your links.

I already did that, no effect what-so-ever. I did a google search and there are many results showing that my ISP blocks torrents, all the reason to switch, I'll talk to my dad about it >_<. (In fact...there is an entire site dedicated to it)

You may want to take a look at this article. If I'm reading it correctly, Charter is also blocking torrents >.>

If you can get internet through a small/local company you'll probably have less issues with your torrents, as the major companies are more likely to block P2P traffic.
