How did I use 7 GB of my monthly free 10 GB bandwidth?
#1
I was checking my e-mail and found this oddball:

"Every free account with Photobucket is allotted 10 GB of monthly
bandwidth and our records show that you have less than 3 GB of
bandwidth left to your account."

Um..... huh? How did I use so much bandwidth? This is the first time I got this e-mail concerning running low on bandwidth.

I'm gonna take a WILD guess here. Is my signature causing it (since I placed my signature on Photobucket) in which it has been reproduced across both my Sleepywood and Southperry accounts (aka over 3,000 posts with this signatue), or is there something else that's eating up all this bandwidth?

*Let's see. I obtained this sig on 9/18, roughly a month ago. So thoughts?

Well...your sig is 163.42 KB, so 7 GB worth of bandwidth would be loading that around 44915 times, which isn't too much I guess. It might be.

Posting a lot + lots of people loading the pages that you post in + low ass bandwith caps = short periods of coverage.

Seriously, f'uck photobucket.

Ew, so it IS my sig causing problems. Guess I should load it on Tinypic instead and let them worry about it? Goggleemoticon

*How the pineapple did people load my sig almost 45,000 times in the span of one month? That's preposterous! :f6:

I suppose if you post twice on one page, and someone loads that page, you're loading the picture twice. Not to mention there's a lot of lurkers.

I just use imageshack. No bandwith cap.

Photobucket is great for stills, but animations are pineappling killers with it. Like barely a month after posting my first recolor, I had reached the cap somehow, and that was for the first time EVER, and i have LOTS of images there, lots that may be used by other people on others sites and stuff.

Frankly, im using tinypic for my gifs and photobucket for my stills.

An odd thing tho, is tinypic and photobucket are the same company :f6:

I got this e-mail, too. It said I used 3GB out of 10GB of monthly free space, but when I log on my Photobucket, I only have 37MB used... >_>

I think it's only something they've started doing recently.
