Since 22nd October 2009 is the official release day of Windows7, lets all enjoy some of the highlights of it's epic predecessor one last time.

P.S. Does anyone know what the differences are between the major Windows7 versions (Home Premium / Professional / Ultimate)?
All I could find in a quick search was that Professional and Ultimate had more server apps included in them and had more advanced networking stuff & settings (which you're never gonna use anyway ). Anyone?

you can use windows xp mode if you have professional/ultimate.

i tried the xp mode rc for a bit and it works great. i just don't have much of a use for it. i guess some people/companies will though.

I actually never had any problems with Vista other than the bloat eating up my 1G of RAM. I'll still be using it for another couple of months to half a year at least.

you have to download some extra things. :/ its kinda sucky in the RC..well when i tryed it when it first came out. maybe better now.

But yeah, Vista kinda has its drawbacks. Hence why I prefer to use XP at times. =\

I have vista... I don't really have any problems with it, it runs just the way I want it too o.o

I read firewall instead of farewell when i first saw the title. Must be sleepy.

When I had windows vista, it isn't as bad as everyone said it would be, every software I use are still compatible, though some program does freezes for reason every once in a while and others behaves incorrectly, although the software is usable.
When I got windows 7 a month ago, it's not as good as everyone said it would be, sure, it's a huge improvement over windows vista, such that program rarely freezes, but all the program that behaves incorrectly on vista still behaves incorrectly on windows 7.
I have a sidebar that shows memory and CPU usage both on vista and windows 7, I can tell that the CPU usage went down by 10% compared to vista, but memory stayed about the same, if not more. With the same hardware, vista and windows 7 shows different Windows Experience Index score: My base score for vista was 5.0, however on windows 7 it dropped to 4.9, but the base score increased for CPU and Memory increased by 0.5 from vista to 7.

I can't wait to get rid of Vista. It's not as bad as everyone says, but I have had several headache-inducing problems. I've had Aero shut itself off, and magically not want to come back twice. The first time my computer switched to 16 bit color for some reason. The second time it ended up that I deleted my video drivers, so I guess that's my fault xP

My current issue with it is that it will change my screen resolution about 25% of the time when I come out of hibernation mode, scrambling my icons which I am very OCD about. Oh yea, for some reason my mouse settings always reset too, but I think that has something to do with the Synaptics Touchpad crap on my computer.

If your school does the MSNDAA thingy you can get it for free. You can get it for 30$ if you're a student and your school doesn't do MSNDAA.
