I was bored.

Because I'm usually busy with other stuff in life I don't have time to train or do other stuff in Maple if not during holidays, but today I was bored and I decided to do the Ghost Chimney's "Jump Quest". You can go there from the fireplace in the Foyer, and, from what I know, you can't go there from any other fireplaces, even if the Omni Key which lets you go there says so. If I don't mistake there are some other fireplaces which let you go there, but I can't remember them. I did the jump quest from the bottom anyway.

Probably some of you will say that it's not hard. Well, until now, it is the hardest jump quest in MapleStory to me - and I've done them all. Yesterday I attempted doing that (didn't keep trying for more than 30 minutes or so) but I failed. Today, I decided to do it again and succeeded in less time than I thought (maybe another 30 minutes). But yeah, I acquired the tactic required to do it. After you acquire it, it becomes kinda easy.

What do I get from this? Nothing. I just did it for fun.

On a side note, I find it funny how they made that Chimney so that you can use it to fast-travel to other rooms of the mansion through the portals in there. They made it so hard to get up there that it became almost useless for everyone. You'd get to your desired location faster by walking than by using the Chimney and doing the jump quest until you get to the portal you want. So yeah. Useless. Tongue

Also, I did it so that I'm "prepared" for an eventual jump quest like that in the Haunted House II which is going to be released in the next patch. I'm pretty sure that they didn't make all that long chimney.. for nothing. Other than the "traveling" purposes, obviously. But again, the jump quest defeats that purpose, so yeah. :f6:

If I don't mistake, last year's Haunted House "expansion" which some versions like MapleSEA got, included a jump quest like that and a reward for doing it. Hopefully my practicing will be useful in one way or another. Hurt

Now, I challenge you to do that. Rolleyes

I would......if I was smart enough to go to the mansion and get the Omni Key and Toymaker crap way back then, instead of being lazy and always afking in Ludi. By the time I finally got to the mansion, the quests had ended.

Yeah, if you have an Omni Key from the 2007 Halloween quests and try to enter in the fireplace on the top of the Foyer, you will be sent in this map, which is a jump quest, and if you press up while standing on those round "portals", you will be sent to a room of the Mansion. Each portal takes you to a specific room of the mansion.

More informations here.

The upper part with the portal and the pumpkin is the part of the map you get sent to when you want to go to the Pumpkin Vault, where Loki Boxes were. That requires an Omni Key as well. You cannot jump down from that part so it's like they are two separated maps in one big map. A concept like that was used for some CWKPQ stages as well, if I don't mistake.

I didn't join till June 08, so I missed the fun of the Haunted House. I remember going to the Toy Factory part of the Haunted House and doing the mini "jump-quest" there (if you enter from the bottom) and though I don't like most jump quests, I had a lot of fun. I never knew about the Ghost Chimney, and found myself unable to get to it after looking up more on it on HS.

brb, wishing I had an Omni Key. Frown

While I did not join in time to catch the original Haunted House, so therefore do not have an Omni Key, I would love to try this JQ out. Personally, I love JQ. I have done the Zakum JQ at least 20 times because of how fun I thought it was, and occasionally still do the CWK JQ even though I have the statue. I also don't take the super easy path that everyone uses. Wink

I hope that you are right in the fact that they will create a new JQ, as they are one of my favorite parts of Maple.

And yes, I'd agree that that JQ is one of the hardest, not due to difficulty, but due to the small platforms. But once you know the limits of each platform so that you don't miss and fall, I'd say its easy enough.

Meh, too bad my Omni Key is on my old character. I might give him a spin later.

I loved that whole secret area. And I LOVED the Pumpkin Vault. Me and my friend would break the Loki Boxes for hours to see each other fly! It was a blast (No pun intended)!

I'm just mad, because I got 'hacked' (was just a friend that I let use the account that took everything, my own fault 100%) a few months later, and he happened to drop everything that was untradeable, including the key. Since then I've been unable to return to the chimney or the vault, unfortunately. Sad

Absolutely. Today I retried it for the fun of it (I love JQs just as much as you do) and suceeded in less than 5 minutes! Biggrin

Umh.. yeah, there was a reversed map where there was a pumpkin and you had to press up on it.. can't remember the name of it, sorry.

Yeah, the Chimney JQ was actually pretty easy. I fell the first couple of times, but I have a strange talent for JQ's, so once I got the hang of it, I was traveling all through the chimney. I was the only one I knew who actually used the chimney to get places faster.

And I used to love going to the Vault. Then they took away the 2 fake Jr. Balrogs that spawned there. Then they made it so the boxes exploded and killed any class with less than 3 - 4k HP (I think it was). Then they made the droprate for most things low and took away others. Yeah... there was no point in going anymore. They should've just left it alone. It was an awesome thing for a number of exclusive people who worked for it and the Omni Key (wasn't easy; hunting those Slime Gummies was a peach).

But meh, after all that, and no hint towards the future fixing any of it, I just didn't care. So I tossed the Key. Even if I hadn't tossed it, it'd still be gone, because I deleted the character it was on to make room for my Marauder in the end.
