With Obama, no we can't.

Not that you have much to back up your maturity.

What happen to letting me go on my marry way?

Also the only person you're talking to besides me was Providence, though Darthmars has a point..

I could give two shits about the special olympics honestly. I'm more concerned about how the country is going to adapt to a new health plan.

It's more like "Your grammar's off, so I will disregard your opinions on this matter" followed by "Dey see me trollin', dey hatin'" finished off with "I call your troll, and I raise you one elitist tantrum".

But yeah, I suppose you're right!

Well if you go read the angry dome you'd see why I made that comment. It's more on the lines of:

-Obama sucks
-Stfu what the hell you know about politics
-Stop being mean to me Sad
-Don't flame bait
-You're flaming me
-Who says I wasn't intending too
-Aw well I'll try to look like the good guy and walk out "..later"
-Hey look I'm still lurkin.

But yeah I guess you're right!

1. Mayor Daley agreed to a deal that would have made the taxpayers of Chicago liable for paying for the Olympics if they didn't pay for themselves. The financial consequences could potentially have been disastrous for us.

2. The Olympics' prominence makes them a very juicy target for international terrorism. The place that hosts the Olympics may well be targeted by a plot similar to the ones that hit Spain, Britain, New York, etc.

3. Flooding the city with tourists will increase traffic congestion and possibly crime.

As a Chicagoan I am happy and relieved we lost the bid to the Olympics. I honestly wouldn't be comfortable driving around the city while they were going on. And it's not like I need the Olympics in Chicago to see Michael Phelps win his 10th gold medal or whatever. It'll be all over the news, even if the Olympics are in Korea.

I read that the revenue from the tourists would not only counter the chicago liability problem but bring more in. The rest are pretty obvious givens. I could be wrong though, I forgot what the article exactly said.

The thing is Chicago wasn't rushing into this. We were researching what the attendance would be, how much money it would rake in, etc. The newspapers here were raging, saying we'd lose a fortune. Anyway, Chicago is like the 5th largest city in America. We get tons of business and tourism as it is. Not a lot of people here want to pay for some special event if it loses money, and as for international terrorism, I honestly don't like flying anywhere because of 9/11, a lot of people don't like it either, and being on Osama bin Laden's radar is not something I am comfortable with.

Can't argue with that.

Well now its a discussion about the olympics which is more of an event.

Considering your post of "haha" was directed a lot of posts prior, kind of doesn't help your point greg.

Sorry.
