MetaSeraphim Wrote:Xenogears =/= Xenosaga. Try not to get the two confused.

Xenogears had the exact same problems except instead of cinematics it was walls of text. Although the battle system was very smooth. Kind of boring during gear parts. All of the dungeons were maze-like and difficult to navigate, especially toward the end of the game. The story was just as insufferable as the Saga's and became even worse during the second disc where they decide gameplay was completely irrelevant and decided to swap it out with narroration.

Xenogears was hilarious because it took itself so seriously, though. It's something I recommend for people to play because it's totally playable, but it's not easy to get into because it's so ridiculous. Although the orphanage really strikes a cord and is probably one of the more memorable and best written areas of any game I've come across. DAMN THOSE CATHOLICS.

BombsAway Wrote:Really? You'd rather not have one of the only consistently good franchises release more decent games in a period where even BAD RPGs aren't being produced in a reasonable amount of time?

I said I rather not see it turn into pomegranate by beating a dead horse. I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts 1, 2 and CoM. But they should end it at some point and not just drag it out to the point where every fan comes to hate it.

BombsAway Wrote:Everyone knows how I feel about most FF games, but even I am able to concede that they aren't unplayable.

Has the level of RPG's nowadays lowered so much if it's playable it's okay?

And what exactly is wrong with that? It's not like a little reading is going to kill you.

This is true, there are some parts of the game that are annoying (Sewers). But it's better than a game being straight forward.

Second disc does have it's problems. But, wat? Again you can't handle a little reading for one of the best stories in a JRPG ever?

BombsAway Wrote:Xenogears was hilarious because it took itself so seriously, though.

You serious? For just as many serious moments Xenogears had joking moments. "Don't call me son cause you sure ain't my pops." It hardly took itself seriously.

BombsAway Wrote:It's something I recommend for people to play because it's totally playable, but it's not easy to get into because it's so ridiculous.

Again, you can't handle some reading? Of course maybe it would be more suited to your tastes if each time Grahf came onto the screen him talking about darkness for 52 minutes, hmm?

And don't get confused here, I am hardly insulting Kingdom Hearts. As I said I enjoyed the games. But it's story is pretty simple. And calling Xenogears story convoluted pretentious just because it takes a level of intelligence to understand is quite simply hilarious.

Now Xenosaga is a story for another day.

Am I the only one that likes to BUY games and have a hard copy of them?

It's not a moral issue with me, but I like to be the classic video gamer who has tons of cases and doesnt pirate the games onto an emulator because im to cheap to just buy the genuine version that doesnt have a chance of crashing/breaking my DS.

Anyway, Im deciding if I should get KH 358/2 or Scribblenauts.

I'm like that! Well, unless it's a game that wasn't and isn't going to be released state-side coughmother3cough. It's fun playing them for real, especially games for DS. I couldn't imagine emulating a game like that on a computer unless it's a tablet, and then it'd probably still be buggy. And no, I haven't emulated DS games so I have no idea how they work at all.

As for the KH series, 1 and 2 were excellent. CoM was ok, it wasn't as amazing as the other two. I wish Square would focus more on releasing KH3 rather than give us all these in between games that only seem like accessories to the already existing story, and end up making it more complex and confusing than actually adding a real story.

lolSMRPG. When I first went to America at the age of 8, my 12 year old cousin was playing that on the SNES. I eventually inherited it at the age of 13, it was passed down onto me. I loved that game to death. I did like 25+ playthroughs with it within a 3 year span.

As for KH, lol. I played '1' KH game, which I had previously owned, and because ofmy terrible experiences from playing that one, I will never pick up another KH game. Seriously. -is one of those GAIZ that supports FF, but not KH-

ITT we judge games we haven't played. Didn't you tell me you didn't/haven't played FF Khoi? Also try playing KH for more than 5 minutes and you know, you just might like it.

As for the game itself, anytime my cousin decides to bring me back my M3 I'll get it.

I'm not saying that you're all wrong, I don't think it'll get any better than KH2.

Is it worth buying? I might decide to get it or not.

I actually find this game quite fun. the storyline is great (and I dont know about birth by sleep but the storyline here actually relates to the storyline of KH1 and 2 (or at least what happened between the games and before the opening of KH2 with Roxas)
The control system is quite similar to KH2.. but i find myself again and again with barely any panel slots left for potions. I wish i had more time to play. dam school.

B>more panel slots Mad

And so far - yea it's worth buying. if it wouldn't work on my R4 like Prof layton and the diabolical box, i would buy it ASAP.

No offense but I stopped paying attention when you called it one of the greatest JRPG stories of all time. I don't know whether you're really calling it great or awful (most JRPGs are the latter) but it wasn't "great" by any means. It's your typical rag-tag group of heroes doing what all rag-tag heroes do: saving the world. Only this time...... it's from an alien posing as God (my memory is foggy I just remember fighting the alien Deus.) It's got a very wanna-be political plot but Suikoden does those infinitely better which is maybe why I'm being so hard on the fall-apart politics in this. The story borrows heavily from the bible but brutalizes it all into a silly anime plotline. God isn't a man... he's a gear....!!

I don't remember much about the game 'cause I've only played through the full thing twice and the second time I was so appalled by the ending (WHAT THE pineapple BARTS VOICE) that I wiped it entirely from my memory. But I can tell you that having characters that make jokes doesn't make the plot any less ridiculous. Taking yourself lightly =/= taking a situation lightly, basically.

Some of the characters were pretty well written, I didn't give it credit for that but again, the story sucks. The story sucks. Also I don't play video games to read for an hour at a time (or watch cinematics that long, either) I play them to play. So yeah, having walls of text or hours of video is very annoying.

Anyway in about 2 hours I'm picking up KH 358/2 if it ends up being crap I'm comin' back here to bust some heads.

TOO MANY DAMN TUTORIALS

I'm getting bored and angry. Tutorials shouldn't be mandatory.

These tutorials were slightly different, they also got you to know some of the other members, which may or may not help the story at some point, but it certainly helps choosing a character in the mission mode (note: don't take the guy with the guns in missions which have a lot of small enemies, it's horrible).

I'm at day 75 right now, but I'm playing it on TTDS cause I live in Europe, but I might buy it when it comes out here (doing this with Soul Silver).

I really want more panel slots... All of them are filled with levels, abilities, and magic(and I still have magic left!) and I only have like 1 spot left for a Hi-Potion. I wonder what sea-salt icecream would taste like...

Magic=worthless imo
I never use it.
The game became alot easier once the moogle shop opened I got that one keyblade above wild. Btw im playing proud mode. But I have to say this game is much harder then 1 and 2. And the controls are so annoying.

I guess this is coming from someone who knows close to nothing about the series' development. The short answer is: No.

Anyway, this game has surpassed my expectations. It's a lot better than that horrible game they call "Kingdom Hearts II" (even though its Final Mix was amazing). It's comforting to learn more about each of the Organization Members and answer some unanswered questions.

What do you mean by "No."

KH3 probably will deal with sora. Next to nothing is known about KH3 because so far the only information anyone has about is that it will eventually be a game and not just a title.

Birth By Sleep =/= KH3

I meant "No" in reference to his statement. Meaning KH3 will, in fact, involve Sora. I just found the idea that it wouldn't deal with Sora so ridiculous I had to point it out.

Ah okay. Well, indeed. The fact that they've made spin-offs starring other characters (rather than making them sequels) is more than enough proof that the main story belongs to Sora/Riku/Mickey.

I wanna play as mickey.

Double post nrrggh

I'm getting into it now that I've realised your "backpack" isn't your item bag as a whole but rather an unexplained entity available but slightly hidden during missions. Being able to toss unnecessary items out so I can open boxes makes my life so much easier.

It's a damn slow game, though. The story so far is pretty uninspired and even though the Disney worlds exist, they might as well not, because they have no bearing on anything besides being a change of scenery (which only last for the first visit because end up going through the same areas repeatedly for multiple missions.)

I enjoy the doing the challenges but... my partners get in the way a lot. One problematic challenge was Mission 08, Challenge 2: Finish In Record Time / Eliminate the Watchers. My partner would be off killing one enemy and I'd for another but as soon as she realised I was fighting without her she charged in and pushed me out of the way to attack it. And she does pomegranate damage. I'm using Valor 2 which has a ground-combo skill, and when the things would go to the ground she would get in the way disallowing me to get the combo (and thus kill them.) Stupid AI pisses me off more than anything else.

Also, the gameplay is really slow. By this point in any other kingdom hearts game I'd have double jump and a jetpack to make traveling easier and more fun. But not this game. I have haste and Jump Slide, the most useless skill of all.

Overall, I'm not very impressed. It's interesting at best but it doesn't seem like they wanted to put a whole lot of effort into this while they've got their real baby coming out on the PSP (which I'm actually very excited for because I know it'll be A++.) It just seems like something meant to tide fans over until a REAL release. Kind of like Nexon's last patch.

edit: Oh and also there's not enough to stuff to buy and make. When you first meet your merchanting moogle mate he's got all sorts of goodies and synthables but as soon as you buy them... you're done. I've had ONE new item pop up and I don't have two of the four necessary items to merchant it which tells me that's only new item I'm going to see for a while; at least until I start seeing those items drop/in chests. Then maybe another untouchable item will show up. Personally, I'd like to see new items after every big story piece. Since the game splits quests into groups for us (2 -3 intro quests then a necessary and 4 - 6 unnecessary quests) it gives plenty of time for el-moog to restock. I have so much money and so much heart (my posts may not reflect this...) and I would much rather be broke.

i just finished the game , (i pirated so shoot me ) . spending up to 30 hours just to finish it . it does have it ups and downs .

pro:
  • new story
  • new info on Org
  • new monster and world layouts
  • new system of using attacks and magic(panels)
  • giving real video clips on Ds
  • ect

Cons:
  • game play does get a little redundant
  • slow start and stays slow till mind way of game (Imo)
  • redoing a lot of the same quests over and over again just new backgrounds
  • A.I could be better
  • ect

just want to re hit some of the points . the whole story is based around roxus and him joining the Org.you get a much clearer view of how the org worked and how every one really acted . the video clips they have on this is really good considering its on the Ds vice acting and all. the new system ( panels ) are some times your friends and sometimes you want to just shoot it in the head . the game feels and story is kind of slow , most kingdom heats games move really quickly after the first hour or two while this one stayed slow.

I'm not sure how to explain this but with both kh1 and kh2 you noticed that the game was about to hit a climax. where as kh :CoM , and this seem to keep it at a low. ( imo i might just be the only ) i was really hoping of having a major boss battle with some one else not just
