How do you guys 'read' abbreviations?
#1
Say, when reading a sentence and coming across one like this:

Winry (all lefts reserved) Wrote:I have to say that if they do the table based on solo abillity (except for party bosses), nl's arent the best. An nl needs to be on an apple and/or partied(se) to outdamage other classes.

Do you read "en-el's" or "night-lords", "an en-el" or "a night-lord", etc?
Most of us apparently don't read in words with our voice, but I assume there to be an inner voice in your train of thought?

As for myself, I prefer to read them as original:
NLs will read: Night Lords
A NL will read: A Night Lord. (although I agree it makes more sense to type "an NL")

In my mind I "read" it as NL, but it's understood as Night Lord.

I'd read CWKPQ as "see-double-you-kay-pee-queue". Goggleemoticon

If you read it in your head it's really fast, though.

while I'm reading stuff in my head I think "en-ehl", but if I were reading it aloud to someone I would say "Night Lord"

I would read it both as "Night Lord".

And my mental voice is usually not involved with my reading. If I want it to read it out, then it does, if not it doesn't. Hehe

The only ones I use are HB and HS, those are said as the letters they are.
Apart from that, NL, BM, MM are Nightlords, Bowmasters and Marksmen (or Mushmom xD)
Oh and I also say lol, btw, brb as laugh out loud, by the way and be right back. I've been hearing 'lol' and el oh el alot.

I read it as the abbreviation, but in my mind I read it as the word.
Strange, right?

For some very obscure reason I read CWKPQ as "see white knight Pee Queue" (with the "queue" being the letter Q pronounced in French). Stunned
I also read "dee kay" but "Dark knight".

I read it as the full un-abbreviated phrase. Stunned

Its not like you "read" NL's, CWKPQ and so, your mind does and you understand it by default D:

If i had to read it as it is, i would just say night lord or crimson wood keep party quest.

This is kinda like "you say lol or laughing out loud" thing, I met a guy who says laughing out loud >_>;

I also do this.

If it's easy to pronounce, I'll say the abbreviation. BM, CPQ, etc.

Stuff like NL, MM, doesn't roll off the tongue quite as easily and I'll do what Fiel said.

I normally would speak and read it as the abreviation itself. LMPQ would ehl-em-pee-que or more normally with the letters as in portuguese ele-emme-pê-quê =P

I don't really "read" it. I just understand what it refers to. Then again, I don't use those abbreviations much, so that may be why.

I read it phonetically. DW would be dee-double-you, NLC would be en-el-see, etc.

Sometimes I read the abbreviation and sometimes I read the full thing when I say it in my head. It depends on what abbreviation it is.

This.

I don't even realize I'm doing it either.
