Say it out loud. How does it feel?
My friends have always told me that my name is just "awesome". It's fun to say. They don't know why, they just say "Joe Tang!" For a lot of the people I know, the first thing they do when they see me is point and say "Joe Tang!" (well, maybe not always point, but they almost always say "Joe Tang"). I sit down at a table "Joe Tang. What's up?" It's not that I'm always referred to by my full name, but it happens very often. Usually when someone sees me, they'll say it, and then just to refer to me as "Joe", mixing in a "Joe Tang" every now and then. Even some of my High School teachers called me "Joe Tang" from time to time. I've rarely ever heard anyone else be referred to by full name except when they're trying to describe who they're talking about to someone else who doesn't know them. I thought it might just be that group of people that found my name entertaining, but interestingly not.
My first day of classes, I had one where a list was handed out with groups on them. I came in a few minutes late, so everyone in my group was already together. I walk over and they say "Joe Tang, right?" "Man, that's an awesome name." "That is an awesome name." "Wish I had a name like that." I kid you not, that's what the guys said. They refer to me as just "Joe" now, but my best friend(s) all mix in a "Jooooooeeee Taaaaang", stretching the "o" and "a" every now and then too.
So. What's so amazing about my name? I mean, if you think about it, I'm just two beverages. What gives?
Have you ever known a person that you just prefer to refer to them by full name? Anyone with an awesome name that just needs to be enunciated at every occasion?
