5.4 Maginitude Earthquake in SoCal.
#1
If you guys haven't heard......

5.4 maginitude earthquake struck @ 11:42 AM PST in the Los Angeles area (centered near Chino Hills), literally sending everyone into a scurry.

Yeah, I live around there and holy crap - started out with a roll, then the violent shaking comes in, all lasting for 15 secs The tutoring center where I was in was OK, but the room next door had a ceiling tile that came crashing down MERE inches from where people was sitting. Outside, traffic stopped for like a minute as some drivers came out of their vehicles and wondered what the bloody hell was going on.

At my house, one of my trophies crashed to the floor due to the shaking, with minor damage done.

Cell phone service was out for quite some time, as well as phone lines and electricity in some areas.

Otherwise, from the news reports Ive heard - minor damage and minor injuries from this event. Nothing much, just enough to scare the bloody hell out of everyone Big Grin

I live down in San Diego and I felt it here too.
At first I thought somebody was on the roof or somebody was stomping their feet upstairs etc but then everything started to shake.
Didn't last for very long here, though.

The phones don't work because the grid is packed from too many people calling their relatives and friends about it.

Places around San Diego always gets small rumbles. If you stood a coin on it's side, all the earthquake would do is knock the coin over. This wasn't the first time. San Diego's more famous for fire storms Tongue

lol. Why would you want to experience a earthquake? Just to say you did?

Michigan is pretty boring. It's like either an ass load of snow or an ass load of tornado's. Oh wait, Northern Michigan had a wildfire I do believe earlier this summerRolleyes

A four year old beating the ground would knock it over. Tongue

There's a fault in the Midwest - New Madrid Fault - which has its share of earthquake events during the past years

The most famous event was in the 1800's, where the so-called New Madrid earthquake was so devasating in maginitude that it completely reversed the course of the Mississippi River overnight.

True story O.o"

theres technically faults all over the world, just mainly where the earth is either emerging from under land, or submerginf beneath the land. The atlantic ocean is an expanding area, while parts of the pacific is being shrunk.
