[Scam Warning] Message In-Game Being Used In Video
#21
I have contacted both their domain registrar and their host. The registrar needs a direct link to the trojan, and the host hasn't replied yet.

If anyone can get a direct URL to the trojan on the site, I should be able to get the site closed down (and maybe even get one of the companies to take legal action against the creator). But, I don't have any extra computers that I want to risk with going to the site, so it would be really helpful if someone could find the file.

*stares at Truffle* I know I'm stupid Truffle idk what any of that is but, there is absolutely no way to go to the website and be protected? That's horrible.

Well, Teresa, you can use AV and stuff as protection, but I don't really want to risk it since I play MS on all my comps. Pretty much, you are completely safe if you do it on a computer that you don't play MS with, or have any important info on (credit card #'s, passwords, etc).

So yeah, if anyone can get the direct link to the file, I can probably shut this site down (and maybe even take legal action against the creators).

Update on the issue:

1. Thanks to Providence for finding the direct link to the virus file.

2.
Quote:Hello,

We have provided a warning to our client and suspended their domain, however we suggest contacting 110mb.com for further assistance as only they are able to shut down the actual web hosting account that is hosting the service.

Yeah, as far as I understand: every existence of that particular keylogger has been removed. You shouldn't be seeing anymore from those goobers for some time.

P.S. I only found a file (which takes no effort); Truffle did everything. Tongue1

I got a message like that nearly a year ago, but I never actually went to the website since I didn't care if someone put my shop in a video... :f6:

I don't get the people who say this is an "obvious" scam, it certainly doesn't look that obvious to me...

Wow, is that your first store? I've been getting those messages for about the last year or so. Rolleyes

It's an obvious scam because:
1) You don't know the person
2) It tells you to go to a website that is unknown to you

Nah, i regularly have a store, and usually with more expensive stuff. But in the 2 someodd years of ever having a shop open, this is the first time ive actually gotten a message, and I have had a shop open at all different times of the day.

And really, the only signal flag that says its a scam is that they send you to a website, nothing about contacting the player themselves. Theres actually quite a few people who just make videos, though most of them could give a pineapple about asking your permission to use your ingame likeness in the video.
