My ancestors lived in Germany during American slavery, and my parents lived in Russia during segregation and in its aftermath. I was born in 1981, long after the important civil rights legislation was passed, and I came to America in 1990. I would say something similar might be said for most people here. Not too many of us can trace our lineage to Southern slaveowners.

None of that matters. We are all white, we are all guilty because of the color of our skin. That's not racist though.

Would you rather have sane white people tell you the truth, or have only the KKK say stuff in the open and the rest of us stay quiet because of the race card? If you want "race dialogue" you should think about that for a sec. Especially the stuff I said in my posts... "zomg racist" is not exactly an adequate counter for that.

still, Carter's been around. He knows his stuff. He wouldn't say something like this without it having some heavy merit.

I've personally met Former President Carter and shook his hand. His resolve is strong and leaves little to be doubted.

the problem with that statement is that even though he may be resolute and he may seem trustworthy (not saying he isnt), those characteristics do not make someone automatically correct. it is very easy, and all too commonplace for deep convictions, personal bias, and even life-passions to be based on outright fallacy or misinterpreted designs.
