HackShield Problems.
#1
Southperry your my last hope. Earlier today while getting ready for a HT run, my computer screen completely froze and MapleStory completely closed itself down. No error no nothing, when trying to start it back up I got this weird HackShield error I've never seen before, anywhere for that fact. I then looked on the site and followed every single guide that they have posted including whatever I could think of. I'm at the point now where I've just given up...I've tried completely everything you can possible think of, here's a SS of the notice I get.

Now, it says something about certain DLL files being tampered with which is impossible because I don't know how to do such a thing. I've tried everything from deleted everything in the HS folder, downloading Nexon's file and extracting them into the HS folder and I tried that with and without restarting my computer. I've also deleted ANYTHING to do with MS off my computer, downloaded a brand new copy off the site and re-installed it. Using a certain program I have that fixes damaged/removed DLL files and still nothing. I've hit a wall, a dead end and I don't know what to do nor what caused this error. I posted the error on the official Nexon Forum with the proper information told to have posted and finally I even sent in the ticket for remote assistance from Ahnlab..

So I'm coming to you guys as I'm sure someone else has had this error as well, I'm pretty bummed out so I would appreciate any information anyone has on this dumbass HS error, thanks..

Also I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

The problem is caused by mcafee quarantining a hasckshield file. I believe its EHSCV.DLL. If you restore those files and disable mcafee you are able to run maplestory. It can also be caused by AVG and Avast from what I have seen. Virus programs detect Hackshield as an Artemis trojan and quarantines it automatically, preventing it from running. AhnLab and Nexon are now responsible for fixing these problems. McAfee has confirmed they will not fix their program just so Maplestory can run. If Nexon wants to keep their customers they need to take initiative and fix this.

I have to thank-you so much, it wasn't until just recently someone asked me "Hey can you disable your antivirus?" and I thought that was weird at first but when I thought back to McAfee finding 2 Trojan's with the HS download from the site and another in my HS folder I turned it off and sure enough MS ran like no problem. Also thank-you for the in depth info on what's causing this, although it does piss me off that to play GMS now I need to have my virus protection off at all times and I'm on MS ALOT. >.> Thank-you VERY much I greatly appreciate this.

I was laughing at first when I saw, Hackshield? Trojan? I knew it! They are secretly trying to keylog me! Man, and there is that one roll call thingy for 5000 maple points that I have no chance of getting anymore too =/.
