racist jokes = racist ?

Does saying racist jokes for a laugh make you racist ?

I mean, sometimes, we dont do it often and only say it at times when we need laughter. so does that make you racist ?

I mean, i have so many chinese and indian friends(singapore) and we all say india jokes(weird culture), malay jokes(lazy people) and chinese jokes(stupid).

But then why issit such a big issue if youre just doing it for the laughs and not to provoke others ?

I'm not offended or anything, I just don't get it. The DDR azn boys are always making me look bad in the classroom; how are they stupid, and how's it even racist to begin with?

Racism altogether is exaggerated to an annoying extent. The only time it should be taken seriously is when an adult is sure that they're being mistreated because of their skin color, which really doesn't happen nowadays if you've got the credentials. Racism is only taken seriously today because black people need a reason to kill whitey. When was the last time you saw an Asian, Indian, or Mexican throw a giant fit over what they feel is racist?

If anyone really thinks racism doesn't exist, that's an extremely naive way of thinking. Granted some may not believe it exists because many of us live in areas where we have a fair mix of races and thus is uncommon.

Here's the tricky part -- what if this so-called "racism" stems from a black gang beating the pomegranate out of you every day for 4 years? My professor's son was like that. So naturally, he grew up and IS constantly going around saying he hates black people. He has reason to do so.

Racism is not always a unprovoked, ingrained thing. Not everybody is like the KKK. There's a lot of bad black people, and not only do they act bad themselves, they ostracize black people that made something of themselves as "oreos" and such. Work and education are "bad" things for such people, but they do commit fraud and crime because that is "not bad." I don't think that many people have problems with some black lawyer or doctor, or some woman like Oprah, they have problems with the general black culture, which exists in the gutter, and through its tangled web of hypocrisy, criminal behavior and victim complex will keep itself in the gutter for at least the next couple hundred years.

It doesn't just apply to black people, but black people play the race card much much more than hispanics, native americans, asians or anybody else. Some, like Jesse Jackson, make a living off the race card.

Almost everyone is a little racist, but being racist doesn't necessarily mean you're intolerant or terrible. If you think a racist joke is funny then that's probably because you believe it at least a little bit (BLACKS ARE LAZY!) You shouldn't try denying being racist, just be aware of it and the people around you and don't do/say anything that would offend someone else. It might seem funny to go up to a black guy who's sleeping and call him a lazy nigger just like his forefathers but that is pretty awful and insensitive, and when people are being blatantly racist it's 100% justified to "play the race card" because pomegranatety people deserve to be called out on it. Also those pomegranatety people will usually respond with I'M NOT A RACIST because they're ignorant which is even further proof of guilt.

Basically you should try to be responsible and sensitive. If you think a joke is borderline then you probably shouldn't say it. Getting a couple of laughs isn't worth offending someone and making yourself look like a piece of trash.

Just because you do well in school doesn't mean you can't also be stupid. Some of the smartest people in the world are stuck on stupid.

I think it's less about being racist and more about being politically incorrect and stereotyping. If the people around you all know you're joking (and you're not going overboard, like BombsAway said), then I don't think it should be a big issue. However, some people may strongly believe in being politically correct, and therefore such jokes could offend them. If you're not discriminating against another race, then I don't call that being racist (not that I'm encouraging the jokes).

Whether people admit it or not though, I think everyone is a bit racist. You got to love the excuse, "I'm not racist. I have a Black/Hispanic/Asian/White/Etc friend!"

I've never really heard a racist joke that made me laugh... I dunno, maybe i'm just missing something there.
