To put it simply, Derp, and every other internet phrase/meme get played out and thus people get tired of it. Derp was funny once in a while (maybe) but like always, people abuse it and it just becomes annoying. Take Rick Rolling for instance. This was funny for a little while, then maybe 2 months down the road, Soccer Moms and dads in mid-life crisis started to discover it and played it out. Nowadays if someone brings up Rick Roll to me I just sigh and roll my eyes.
