The info worked. Can't change maple password; reached the password reset limit. Not signing off until I change it.

It seems to me as the hacker is one of your friends. Either from your BL or guild, his excuse of "getting advantage of the situation" makes it look as if he's not one of those meso seller hackers and he's actually gonna use the money to fund himself. Check which of your friends in the game are also your friends on MSN since it would have been easier for them to hack you through it.

Or you could just stop using MSN because it's a s'hitty IM client.

It has its faults, but to disregard it entirely? lol no. What other clients are there?

Sorry about that man, and I really hope you find the person responsible. If he hacked you via MSN, hopefully that will narrow down the search and make him easier to catch.

Pidgin.

The service is fine because everyone uses it, but the client itself sucks balls. You can run tons of messenger services through pidgin including MSN and AIM...so there's no point in using their client.

My MSN password was changed again, so I'm assuming my maple account will be next.

Mike {iHasters} = the Hacker
Evan {SaxoCone} = Hackers friend

After talking with Mike again last night, I figured out how he was able to hack me. He did not use any third party programs. All he did was pretend to be Evan to draw out the personal information he needed. Mike used Evan's facebook, Maple character, and MSN to trick me into giving him what he wanted. Having known Evan for over a year now, the questions he asked and things he did I thought to be harmless. They weren't. He used Evan's facebook to buddy me (I normally wouldn't have added a friend met through Maple but Evan was a nice guy) and see what school I go to. He googled my school to obtain my zip code. To reset a password with MSN, you need to know last name (got that through MSN), zip code, birthday (not sure how he got that, since it was a fake birthday..), and the answer to the secret question. My secret question had to do with the name of your first pet (I didn't remember what the secret question was, I had made the e-mail almost 2 years ago). About 3-4 days ago, Evan (Mike in disguise) signed on MSN and Maple (IGN = SaxoCone). He told me how he always wanted to have a pet, but he didn't know what to name it. He kept asking me what to name it, and he asked me "What did you name your first pet?" Therefore he was able to get a password reset for my e-mail. From there he went to my Maple account. He went to the website and did the "Find ID" option, where you have to enter the e-mail linked to your account and your birthday (both of which he had, still don't know how he got the birthday). After getting my username he was able to reset my password, and also my pin. After he took everything, he gave me the info back, and I proceeded to change all the info again, but I didn't know what I had for my original secret question, so I changed it back to what it was originally (Mike changed the secret question to "Best childhood friend" and when I couldn't remember it I thought I had just typo'ed or something). Since he already knew all the information to reset my e-mail password again, he did. Without access to my e-mail I wasn't able to reset my Maple password (I couldn't reset it when I had the e-mail because of the reset limit or something) and he also reset my password again. I am currently signed into my Marksman, but if I d/c or log off, he will once again have control over it, and I don't think I will get it back this time. Mike did NOT use a MSN hack, but rather tricked me over time into giving him small pieces of information which he used to hack me. I always thought I was secretive with my personal information, but I guess I wasn't.

Ah, social engineering. There is no patch for that. I lost my first account that way, and now I know better.

Good luck getting your account secure again ;x

There's a very good reason that my account's registration info is 100% fictional...

So what is your plan now? Wait on your account until you're able to change the info?

Ouch man, he was crafty. He was able to mimic's typing style? I mean like when people type they have a style, whether leisurely, strict or leet. There's also a tone and a slightly shallow personality reflect through when they go about asking questions, greetings ect ect.

The guy really worked hard it seems though. Sorry about your loss, however I'm sure 40mil and a few ht runs could get you on track!
