Jailbroken iPod Touch WinterBoard help

So I jailbroke my iPod Touch today and got Cydia. I downloaded WinterBoard with it; but after I hit the reboot button. nothing happened and when I tried pressing the top left and the home button, they didnt work. Help please?

EDIT: If it helps, my computer says "USB device not recognized." when i try to plug my ipod touch into the computer to try and restore.

What, are you trying to get Winterboard to work? You need to have themes downloaded first.

You can SSH if you know how to.

Downloading themes is as easy as going into Cydia and looking at the Themes folder. Download something for Winterboard and enable the theme inside Winterboard. Respring, and things should work.

Are there any guides other than Youtube on how to SSH?

Google and download the tool called "WinSCP" and then set up the IP of your iPod/iPhone in WinSCP. This tool will allow you to view and edit all the files in your iPod.

I'm short on time, so just google a guide for using WinSCP for your iPod.

Ok I got WinSCP, but I still don't understand how to use it. When you can, please help me.

Open up WinSCP, and there should be a little window that pops up. Make sure you iPod is connected via Wi-Fi. Now, take a look at the place where it says "Host Name". Here, you'll type in the IP Address of your iPod. (This is done quite easily; just go into Settings and then to Wi-Fi. It should be something like 192.168.0.xxx)

Next, type "root" for the username and "alpine" for the password. Make sure that the file protocol is "SFTP". Save, and login.
