Hitler was very popular in Germany at first, because he helped them get out of the depression they'd been in since World War I. He encouraged the auto industry and that really helped them. Then, once he started rounding up Jews, he used them as forced labor in factories. So Germany had a pretty good economy until the end of the war, when America started bombing all their factories.

A. Neither Hitler, Stalin, or Obama were responsible for the economic problems during their leadership, especially at first. Stalin's were left over from the breakup of tsarism, and Obama's are basically directly Reagan and Bush's fault for relaxing regulations on bankers, allowing them to do the greedy, misleading, and outright wrong trades that they did. (Or, you can blame the bankers for being arseholes, but either way, it's not on Obama.)
B. Since when is Obama running a "violent dictatorship"?! In fact, he's actually
released and transferred prisoners in Guantanamo Bay that were being held under harsh conditions. Heck, he isn't even verbally strong-arming Congress.
Obama's main problem is that people are believing the outright lies that Republicans are telling them. Death panels? Don't exist. "Government takeover of healthcare"? Complete falsehood. All the government will do is offer an option, and if public option gets defeated, you won't even have government insurance unless you can't get private.
(If public option is defeated, that's bad, because then private insurance will be even more willing to unload people who are actually sick, and the government will pick up the slack... If the government can compete with private insurers, it can keep them honest because people can switch
before paying thousands of wasted dollars to a private insurer, just to be abandoned in the very moment they were paying for.)
Obama's other problem is that he's trying to reach out to the Republicans, who are just being d!cks. End of story.
