Advantages & Disadvantages of your job.
#1
State your job and level, then your advantage and disadvantage that you think your job has. ( You're allowed more than 1 character as long as it belongs to you.

Priestess
81
Advantage: Holy Symbol and partied easily.
Disadvantage: Delay time that Holy Symbol has.

(I could say Priests are weak, but if that's the disadvantage you think your job has, as a Priest, then, really, why'd you pick a cleric? I knew and wanted to be a support character beforehand.)

Sniper
73
Advantage: Nice mob skills and bonus of freeze with blizzard
Disadvantage: No haste/teleport, so quite slow.
(there is a speed skill in third job, I know, but I quit it, so that's the current disadvantage/advantage)

Bowmaster
128
Advantage: Hurricane is fast, SE makes you welcome in most parties
Disadvantage: For the most part, without intense HP washing, you cant survive major bosses.

Psst, if you HS on a rope/ladder, there's no delay xD

Advantages:
-Chain Lightning. Enough said.
-Pretty good guard skill.
-Gigantic AoE attack.

Disadvantages:
-Our damage formula sucks.
-Everything I get, Bishops get a better version of.
-No one wants you at bosses

All I can think of right now.

74 STR SinDit....

Advantages: Stable damage, little pot usage 120+,6-8 usefull ways to kill an enemy vs all other classes which have like 5 and only alf of them are actually usefull, usefull haste mules...

Disadvantages: 65-8X Pure hell(10-20 an hour unless I bomb gobys which is around 40% an hr 2-4m a level.) Not wanted for bossing that much, kinda weak, not partied much, boring untill 80-90+.

All I can think of right now...

128 Shadower, pineapple yeah.

Advantages? Oh pomegranate.
I've got a pineappleton of skills. BStep? pomegranate, is that 30k~40k damage per monster on 4 monsters at level 128? Damn right it is. It's one of the flashiest skills in this game and it takes like one second to cast. It knocks pomegranate back like manon and pap, but it doesn't actually count as a KB. It just 'moves' things. I've got venom. Even at level 1, I can still hit up to 10k damage with it by doing nothing but just normal training. Fake? It's level 1, and even then I still have an 11% chance of not getting hit every time I get attacked. Stack that on to my high-ass avoidability (Low DEX? pomegranate yeah), and you've got things missing me half the time. Assassinate? Bosses get their asses kicked. By the time it's maxed I can hit like 400k damage whenever the pineapple I feel like it.
That's just naming my 4th job skills.

Disadvantages? lolwat? I'm not wanted for bossing, and that's pretty much it. It's a PAIN IN THE ASS to train a Chief to Shadower, but it's worth the trouble. I'm not wanted for Zakum or Horntail? Oh wait, I am wanted at Horntail. We're the best seduce-bait out there (lol). But it doesn't matter. I can take a hit from pap so I can solo it whenever I feel like it. I can kill a Pianus in like, a half hour~45 minutes, and I barely get hit thanks to BStep. I guess another downside would be our pot costs, but by the time you're 12x you don't really care.

101 Ranger
Advantage:Fun and interesting skills
Disadvantage: ridiculously low HP takes away from any fun at bossing. (Curse you 4th job for getting rid of all the Hyperbody!)

60
Advantage: Pushing stuff into people's faces with the new 70% PKB
Disadvantage: One-directional mobbing FTL.

Magician (Max MP Build)
12
Advantage: Three Snails and Stars & Stripes help a lot
Disadvantage: Nigh impossible to train otherwise.

Cleric
46
Advantage: Efficient mobbing for cheap maintenance.
Disadvantage: Can't do nothing to real live stuff.

96 DK 8Dex Hybrid

Advantages: Needed for bossing, easy to get from 70-120, pretty strong

129 FP Mage

Advantages:
  • Fire Arrow is the strongest single target attack in the second job. (And it allows you to train in most of Nath during that time.)
  • Fire Arrow is usable up to Lv 120
  • Slow helps at bosses... usually IL don't max this skill.
  • Mist is fast and allows for easy hunting. (I've found a great number of ilbis, more than the average sin ever had.)
  • Explosion is a unique skill, being the only one that is affected by weapon speed
  • I make money faster than any other class can soloing.
  • Meteo, even at level one, protects me from being KSed.
  • Elquines is the only summon that freezes, which is useful at bosses such as Griffey and Manon, because it freezes the kentaurs so that you can hug them easily.
  • Paralyze at level 1 is superior to Cold Beam and IL Composition because of its ability to freeze for 5 seconds.
  • Fire demon has the semi-freeze status
  • Fire demon, in conjunction with explosion really helps clear out mobs during misting.
  • Partial resistance helps at pap, when dispelled, you won't die.

Disadvantages:
  • Training with fire arrow is slower than IL's training with thunderbolt.
  • Explosion is slow, and many people say that it's laggy.
  • The 'hell' levels cause many people to go the 'brace' build, which is pretty useless. D:
  • Mist training speed remains the same no matter what level you are. (Which makes it pretty slow later on.)
  • Explosion forces you to either be a luk mage or put up with the slower misting speed from the longer explosion casts and the loss of the ability to jumpcast explosion... (as in the explosion sets off before you hit the ground).
  • Seal isn't used much after sharking.
  • Composition is useless, though people are still maxing it instead of Partial Resistance.
  • Elemental Amp causes Meteo to be double the cost of Genesis.
  • Elquines doesn't have the best reflexes... you have to put it in between you and the monster you intend it to attack, which can be a hassle if you're KBed out of range.
  • Lack of Composition made me want to pump Paralyze first, which limits training to misting instead of Meteoing.
  • Paralyze isn't strong enough yet to hit 10K, even at level 9 paralyze.
  • Elquines isn't as helpful until it has two second freeze, which is at level 11. However, the glitch (reversed animations between attack and disappear) forced me to pump it to level 12, missing my paralyze's Mastery margin.
  • Partial Resistance only helps on the Fire Attribute. The only monsters doing poison based attacks are zombies... and PR doesn't help reduce damage from boss-mist.
Yea, pretty long list.

The last point of disadvantages raises an interesting idea:
If they implemented a boss which would cast boss-mist at certain times that does a ridiculously high amount of damage like 15K damage per second and needed a certain amount of HP downed before it clears its mist, it would raise the usefulness of a FP in a boss battle. The only classes that would be able to survive the fullscreenmist... are warriors, shadowers, FPs (with PR), and Bishops (With ER). Of course, it'd waste a lot of pots for a warrior to be fighting during the mist time, unless a shadower assists them with the smokescreen, but if the boss implemented casts it more frequently than smokescreen countdown timer... A FP would be VERY useful to have, because he'd have to clear the mist for the other... ranged classes... to come in. (Like, when it casts the boss-mist, a shadower must cast smokescreen and then a Bishop has to door them out of the room into a waiting room until the FP clears the mist by killing the required amount of HP, then door them back in from the waiting room after the mist is cleared.)

Guess I'll go in level order.

126 Night Lord
Advantages: Fast, desired at bosses, not weak!, good at making money.
Disadvantages: None, I'm smart enough to overcome most HP problems.

122 IL Arch Mage
Advantages: Cheap to play, somewhat entertaining.
Disadvantages: Weak as pomegranate. Dispel completely owns your face.

53 Spearman
Advantages: EVENTUALLY desired for bossing.
Disadvantages: Mine is weak as pomegranate (Mark of the Beta'd, 60 base dex Frown ). Slow as pomegranate. Must be in monster's face to do anything.

50 Cleric
Advantages: Cheap. Really cheap. Did I mention cheap?
Disadvantages: Um. A bit boring.

44 Assassin
Advantages: This little guy is beast for his level.
Disadvantages: Not having the skills my Night Lord has.

38 Hunter
Advantages: None. See other bowman opinions in this thread.
Disadvantages. Lots. See other bowman opinions in this thread.

32 Bandit
Advantages: None yet. Eventually pretty stable damage - hopefully good damage at that.
Disadvantages: Not enough skills - namely Haste and I can't get it until late 4x/5x anyway.

I have access to numerous others of high level, but that's pretty much the basis of my own characters. Tons of characters below level 30 as well. I've been around the Maple block once or twice. :[

Lol @ your 38 hunter.

I have a 38 hunter too. The only thing I have to complain about him is restocking arrows (yeah I realize sins have to refill too, but eh) and bad crowd control.

90 Sniper
Advantages: Kinda fun to play. Gear is on the cheap side. We can freeze, pomegranate yeah.
Disadvantages: Low HP, kinda slow. And I'm constantly made fun of by certain 128 Shadowers whose IGNs start with S and end in R and have the letters "epthe" inbetween.

85 Hermit
Advantages: Fast I guess. APQ mule. 8U?
Disadvantages. Boring. Very boring. And it will stay boring thanks to lack of varying skills. Expensive as pomegranate gear (Like I care, I quit my Hermit anyway).

I'll only give one of my hermit / dark knight, because my page isn't high level enough yet to judge imo...

Dark Knight:
+ Wanted for bosses
+ Wanted for parties by somewhat low leveled priests
+ High HP, so able to go anywhere
+ Easy to make money
- Basically needs a priest for training
- Non HP-washed DrK's can't use berserk until 150 >_>

Hermit:
+ Fast
+ Strong attacks
- If you don't have good equips, theyre hardly fun to play..
- All hermits are being stereotyped by quite a few people, so they hate me already before they know me

Level 154 Bishop.

Advantage : Everyone wants one in their party. Genesis<3.

Disadvantage : Everyone wants one. So even if I don't feel like training, I always get mobbed by people looking for a bishop. ._. Use lots of pots and they don't give you enough room so I gotta buy extra use slots.

@ harrisonzed, can't marksmen's summon freeze too?

Bishop Pros

-Very versatile class as in wanted more than anyone for training, and greatly need @ bosses
-End game monsters are always weak to holy
-Heal...... Nuff said
-Greatest party puffs in the game (holy symbol, heal, bless, Holy shield)
-Trains faster than any class in the game. Magicians LvL the fast during 1st job, clerics have it insanely easy during 2nd job, leach during 3rd job, and Genesis to 200
-Can easily make mesos by selling Genesis leach

Bishop Cons
-Worste single target damage in the game
-Hard to lvl during 3rd job if you can't find a party
-Holy element is a double edged sword; we can't do our best damage unless the monster is weak to holy

Shadower Pros
-Highest avoid in the game
-Both highest damage dealing attacks in the game, mob and single attack(Mesos bomb, assassinate)
-Very unique set of skills that you use throughout your entire career
-Fast paced class in general
-Best defensive skill in the game (mesos gaurd)
-Only class with really no weakness (acc for warriors, element for mages, HP for ranged classes)

Shadower Cons
-From 1st to 4th job - You need just about every one of your skills before you really become useful
-Single target damage is so so
-Attack shields are @!$#@%#ing expensive
