What kind of terrible professor/teacher allows any font other than Times New Roman on their papers? There's much better, more crafty ways of increasing length if you're desperate anyway.

Having a certain amount of words is the way to do it. One of my English professors enforced a strict word limit. If you were even ONE word short of it, you would get a failing grade on the paper. <3

I hate Times New Roman, it's so ugly!!!!!! Then again I don't think I'm a fan of a lot of serif fonts. =x

Haha I always thought comic sans was kinda cute. Francis I'm changing my msn font to bother you muhaha.

Okay, now you guys have made me curious. Throughout high school and now college, all of my teachers and professors have forbidden any font other than Times New Roman on papers. I grew up with this, I learned to like this and it's surprising others allow "stylized" fonts and especially colors. To me that's like they don't take their papers seriously, or they like their students focusing on things other than content alone. Frankly, I would just hate having to grade stupid fonts and colors.

How many of you were allowed to write papers in different fonts and colors?

When I'm a teacher, I'm definitely enforcing the "Times New Roman, Black, 12 pt, double-spaced and MLA format" rule that I've always had to follow. That's just the way it should be for academic papers.

And just for font discussion sake, my favorite is Arial.

What's the crafty way to get around these requirements:
Minimum 18 pages
Times New Roman, 12 pt double spaced
1.9 cm margin on all sides
AGU formatting (American Geophysical Union - http://www.agu.org )

And personally my favourite is the default "article" style of LaTeX, incl. font.

I wrote papers like that in middle school.
Now I'm in high school, and such colours and fonts are forbidden!

Secret tip for the crafty students who enjoy cutting corners

Try it out. It's like magic.

Only way I've ever seen this method detected was if the teacher knows specifically to look for it. Or if they have REALLY sharp eyes. Personally, I've never been discovered, nor have the few people I've shared it with. It's always risky being a cheat, but that's the fun of it.

My favourite font is Courier New but I wouldn't write anything for school with it. Unless it were programming. Actually, I'd use Lucida Console for programming.
