Up to the age of 4 I think it should be completely up to the parents. After that the child has developed enough that I'd consider their life more valuable than the choices of their parents.
Course there are mental diseases that cause that development to never happen, their legal guardian should be allowed to kill them too

I eat fetuses. They don't taste bad, in all honesty.

Not all pregnancies are due to your misdoing. Condoms break. Rape happens. Relationships and husbands die. pomegranate happens.
If I were going to raise a child, and I lost all my money; home, car, everything I know I'd have second thoughts. You know, like people lost their homes, cars, and jobs just last fall?
Why should you or I have to suffer because of some bad luck that couldn't be predicted?
No, there are PLENTY of loving families who want children but just can't. Or people that just care to not see another fetus die. etc.
For the most part, tough luck. Condoms can break, tough luck. Spouses/relationships die. Or you just lost your job. Should you kill the unborn baby? Of course not.
Rape. Yes, it sucks. Plenty of women have children of rape and still respect that it is a human. They can love that baby, and have it perhaps be the best way to heal. Just because its father is a rapist doesn't mean it deserves to die.
Just because the baby makes you have a hard life, or makes you sad, etc. it DOESN'T mean you get to kill them. Hell, there was this girl in my math class the other day and she took my seat. The only open seat made it so I was unable to see the board. Death to that b itch? No, of course not. That is fail logic.
Throws Wrote:Even if abortions became illegal, women would still go out and get them.
You can bet your ass that if my father had gotten me pregnant when I was 12 years old I would have sooner stabbed at my own stomach with a rusted carving knife than be the mother of my own brother.
Comic plz!
I know this might be a sensitive issue, but I wouldn't say it is right to kill the child of rape (as stated above). They are people, and not necessarily bad ones. You could keep the baby, and use it to heal. Love it and turn it into a good thing in your life. If that isn't your thing, let a loving family adopt it.
Hazzy Wrote:If abortions were outlawed, more women would die of infections caused by unpracticed people with coat hangers in alleyways.
From your perspective... what's worse? Women with notches in society dieing, or 'unborn babies' that have a decent chance to die before turning 10 dieing.
Then they are idiots. If you are willing to di this then you are a terrible person. Both parties involved.

13 million orphans world wide. Something tells me there aren't enough families.
1.
Nearly all abortions take place in the first trimester, when a fetus cannot exist independent of the mother. As it is attached by the placenta and umbilical cord, its health is dependent on her health, and cannot be regarded as a separate entity as it cannot exist outside her womb.
2.
The concept of personhood is different from the concept of human life. Human life occurs at conception, but fertilized eggs used for in vitro fertilization are also human lives and those not implanted are routinely thrown away. Is this murder, and if not, then how is abortion murder?
3.
Adoption is not an alternative to abortion, because it remains the woman's choice whether or not to give her child up for adoption. Statistics show that very few women who give birth choose to give up their babies - less than 3% of white unmarried women and less than 2% of black unmarried women.
4.
Abortion is a safe medical procedure. The vast majority of women - 88% - who have an abortion do so in their first trimester. Medical abortions have less than 0.5% risk of serious complications and do not affect a woman's health or future ability to become pregnant or give birth.
5.
In the case of rape or incest, forcing a woman made pregnant by this violent act would cause further psychological harm to the victim. Often a woman is too afraid to speak up or is unaware she is pregnant, thus the morning after pill is ineffective in these situations.
6.
Abortion is not used as a form of contraception. Pregnancy can occur even with responsible contraceptive use. Only 8% of women who have abortions do not use any form of birth control, and that is due more to individual carelessness than to the availability of abortion.
7.
The ability of a woman to have control of her body is critical to civil rights. Take away her reproductive choice and you step onto a slippery slope. If the government can force a woman to continue a pregnancy, what about forcing a woman to use contraception or undergo sterilization?
8.
Taxpayer dollars are used to enable poor women to access the same medical services as rich women, and abortion is one of these services. Funding abortion is no different from funding a war in the Mideast. For those who are opposed, the place to express outrage is in the voting booth.
9.
Teenagers who become mothers have grim prospects for the future. They are much more likely to leave of school; receive inadequate prenatal care; rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or end up divorced.
10.
Like any other difficult situation, abortion creates stress. Yet the American Psychological Association found that stress was greatest prior to an abortion, and that there was no evidence of post-abortion syndrome.

Not to mention the hypocrisy of many "pro-life" advocates who constantly bomb abortion clinics. You can't claim to be "pro life" when you attempt to murder educated doctors.

Like I said before, is it ok to throw fertilized chicken eggs all over the place because they can't survive outside of the egg yet? No.
2.
The concept of personhood is different from the concept of human life. Human life occurs at conception, but fertilized eggs used for in vitro fertilization are also human lives and those not implanted are routinely thrown away. Is this murder, and if not, then how is abortion murder?
Did I ever say that throwing away fertilized eggs was ok? I'd ratehr this practice wasn't carried through, but rather these people who want to be parents should just adopt. They'll have a child to take care of and help a child have a better life.
3.
Adoption is not an alternative to abortion, because it remains the woman's choice whether or not to give her child up for adoption. Statistics show that very few women who give birth choose to give up their babies - less than 3% of white unmarried women and less than 2% of black unmarried women.
It is the woman's choice to give up the baby to abortion. If they are willing to abort their baby then they should be willing to give the baby up for adoption. It is hypocritical otherwise.
4.

It isn't safe for the baby, the ones who can't defend themselves. You don't have a right to kill the baby because it is safe FOR YOU.
5.
In the case of rape or incest, forcing a woman made pregnant by this violent act would cause further psychological harm to the victim. Often a woman is too afraid to speak up or is unaware she is pregnant, thus the morning after pill is ineffective in these situations.
Killing a baby because a woman might have more psychological harm isn't right. Besides, women can heal from their own children even if they are from a rape.

Why would we force sterilization/contraception? That is just plain wrong. We aren't communists yet. However, I believe we can enforce PRO-LIFE causes.

Abortion isn't the answer.

They are terrorists, no questions asked. There will always be people like this on both sides.

A child of rape is still a child. A handicapped child is still a child. A girl is still a child. A boy is still a child. It doesn't matter where the child came from, they are a child and should be treated as a human being.

Except when it's not a child yet, it's an embryo/fetus. embryos aren't conscious, they're not independent, they're not human period.
and wtp is this "fertilized egg" thing about? I've never heard anything about it being bad to break fertilized eggs. So yeah, I'd toss em around. What's wrong with that?
The bottom line for me is that the woman's rights allow her control over what happens to her, which includes how she handles pregnancy. It's not up to some guy on the internet.

You need to remember the 9 months of HELL mothers-to-be have to endure. There is no reason to endure that when when have the technology to destroy the glob of cells known as a Zygote.
Like I said before, is it ok to throw fertilized chicken eggs all over the place because they can't survive outside of the egg yet? No.
Throwing them around serves no purpose. No one gains anything from that, except the person having a 'good time' throwing stuff around.
Did I ever say that throwing away fertilized eggs was ok? I'd ratehr this practice wasn't carried through, but rather these people who want to be parents should just adopt. They'll have a child to take care of and help a child have a better life.
There's something magical about knowing YOU helped create life. Adoption isn't always an option to people who want their own child.
It is the woman's choice to give up the baby to abortion. If they are willing to abort their baby then they should be willing to give the baby up for adoption. It is hypocritical otherwise.
Aborting the baby takes half an hour or so in a clinic, and you're done. Birthing it takes almost a year of stress, not to mention the equivalent of someone cutting your crotch open with a knife.
It isn't safe for the baby, the ones who can't defend themselves. You don't have a right to kill the baby because it is safe FOR YOU.
The babie isn't alive, it isn't a human. It's a blob of cells.
Killing a baby because a woman might have more psychological harm isn't right. Besides, women can heal from their own children even if they are from a rape.
Do you know from experience? I'd love to hear how being reminded of the worse day of your life is going to make you heal.
Know the risks. You took the risk, accept that.
We can send a man to the fucking moon a quarter of a million miles into space. We have the technology to turn that risk into a 0, so why the hell can't we use it?
Why would we force sterilization/contraception? That is just plain wrong. We aren't communists yet. However, I believe we can enforce PRO-LIFE causes.
Don't confuse dictatorships with economic systems. A Majority of Americans is against 'Pro-Life' causes and the clinic bombing it endorces.

Abortion isn't the answer.
Actually it is. It's harmless, nearly painless (I'm not a woman/haven't had one).
It isn't about the mother as much as it is about the defenseless baby.
It's all about the mother. A Zygote does not count as a 'baby'.

I don't understand, really. My brother committed suicide. He wanted to end his life. How can I be sad? He had an objective. He reached his objective. The objective is what matters. If you chose to end your own life, then so be it, I'm happy for you because that is what YOU wanted to do. That's why I think it is wrong to be able to institutionalize a person for self-harm.
The difference is that fetuses can't defend themselves, or decide for themselves if they live or die. A grown person can.

That's going too far in the wrong direction- if a person is committing suicide, they're usually not sane.

Or they're in a low point. Life is a roller coaster, and it'll get better soon.
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Psh, suicide is a permanent solution to the permanent problem of mortality. It's not like if you avoid suicide you'd live forever. And nothing in life is worth living for anyway, unless you're irrational.

If your objective is to kill everyone, then go for it. Other people may have their own objectives to stop you, but if you want to kill everyone, truly, then try. You only win if you do what you wanted to do. Just because you are right in other people's eyes doesn't mean you've won, maybe all you wanted to do was devious things or murder.
(I know this can taken that I support people's objectives to kill their fetus, which actually, I am saying this. However, my objective is to make that illegal because I believe it is wrong. We are enemies, and I need to respect you have an objective and I have my own.)
Also, for the hell argument (only going to comment on this one atm), what if I've lived next to an annoying neighbor for some odd years? He's REALLY annoying. He makes my life hell. Is it right to kill him? Again, no.
xBTAx Wrote:That's going too far in the wrong direction- if a person is committing suicide, they're usually not sane.
Is it insane to believe that your life sucks? That if you end it you won't feel pain any longer? Is it insane to believe that suicide won't affect you in any way you can comprehend? No, it isn't. Anyone can be in their right mind and want to end their life.
