Ninja'd, and I lol'd. Let the hilarity ensue if the police actually do something about this. I could see grounds for argument if you actually owned anything in game, but you don't - everything is owned by Nexon, you simply...(would rent be the right word?) rent it (albeit without paying anything). So it's tough to argue a case of thievery here.

If anybody wants to dig something up for me, it's funny as hell. Three or four years ago, I listened to an audio file of a maplestory player calling the suicide hotline because he failed a scroll on his work glove, and it was like 5 minutes long I can't remember much else I'M GONNA JUMP OFF THE CRANE IN KERNING CITY oh man it was funny

someone go find it

Again, it's hard to call it a crime when you don't own anything in Maple. Nexon does. You can't be scammed out of something you don't own.

He's stealing your time and effort put into the game, which happened to be in the form of a Horntail Pendant.

Time and effort put into maplestory are for your own amusement. You do not get any reward, and therefore cannot have any reward stolen from you. Again, you do not own anything in maplestory. Anything you invest in it is permanently lost to you. It is impossible to have something stolen from you that you gave away freely earlier.

If you throw a piece of paper in the garbage and someone else takes it, it was not stolen from you. Here the time and effort are the paper, Nexon/Maple the garbage can, and the someone else the person you claim is stealing. He is merely taking advantage of something you gave up of your own free will, although by in-game rules he was scamming. Real world, however, there was no crime commited other than him breaking the rules of the game. This should've been handled via ticket, not police report. Now Nexon has grounds to simply delete the account out of spite (they can delete your account at any time without reason) for causing them a legal headache.

I give, there's no point in a huge debate.

For the record, I don't believe that it not being illegal in real world means it is ok, it's still a Pineapple'd thing to do, it just happens to not be against the law. He did break ToS though (scamming). The poor kid just doesn't have a real-world case because he didn't own the mesos.

Stealing a rented item is still stealing...

P.S. ToS don't apply when you break the law, aka stealing.
ToS only apply on the terms on which you're allowed by Nexon to play their game on their server, nothing more, nothing less...
