Illegal Downloading
#1
So, I was talking to my friend today and he said he had a ton of friends who don't Pirate music or movies. On the other hand, almost all my friends pirate music and a few do movies. Then I was curious to see how many others do the above. Which brought me to making this poll.

I know it's illegal to do either of those. But I think it's alright as long as you're using it for personal use. I think it's gone too far if you're downloading movies that are still in theaters, burning them and then selling them for profit. The same with music, as soon as you start selling either, it's out of hand. What are you thoughts on downloading music and/or movies?

3. If they're good, I'll buy them afterwards. I see no difference between this and watching them at a friends house (movies). Music ought to be public domain anyway.

What is this "buy" you speak of?

This.

I download cds to see if I like them. If I do, I buy the cd. If I don't, I just get rid of it since I don't want to listen to it anyway. >_>

I buy some CDs for certain artists, mainly because I like them and want to see their career continue, so money has to come in from somewhere.

Fun fact: every 5 minutes nearly 700,000 songs are illegally downloaded.

Fun fact: 500,000 of said songs are being downloaded by me.

Anyway, I don't really download music. I listen to it online.

This, for anime. If there's a legal stream with commercials, like for Death Note, I'll watch that. If it's available at one of the libraries in the county, I'll get it from there. Otherwise, I'll download it, watch it once, and delete it. If it's good enough that I want to watch it again at some point, I buy it.

Most of the music I like is by artists who put up most of their music for free online.

I download mixtapes, since they're free, duh. Tongue.
But I mainly just buy albums, support my artists.

Illegal is such an distasteful word.

I don't listen to much music that can be bought in a store here in Arizona, so I have downloaded almost every song on my computer.

Anime, on the other hand, is usually bought once it's easily obtainable here in the U.S. Generally bought in the order that I enjoyed it.

I don't watch movies, for the most part anyway. They bore me.

I prefer to call it "creative obtaining." Buying is so easy modo.

I don't really do it to music/movies, since I don't listen/watch (to) them often.

Games I'd only download with the intent to buy later.

Anime... Only started this season, but I'd buy it if it came over to the states.

I buy CDs here and there, depending on the Artist. Otherwise I just download, put it on my iPod, and am good to go. I do agree that burning and selling is un-ethical, however.

I download movies as well, but I generally end up buying it if I can find it/like it.

Yar.

I don't download any music or movies, but my fiance downloads enough of both to make up for it, I suppose. Goggleemoticon

Movies, I don't really watch that many to begin with. Music, I mostly just listen to stuff online. I occasionally download some music if I want it on my mp3 player for when I'm out and about.

I download both, but very infrequently. And I don't bother to justify why I do it. I know its illegal Tongue

I don't watch movies or listen to music. I do download the occasional game, but most of the games I download I either already own or end up buying whenever I can find them.

Wow. I should be given a lifetime sentence in court for being so illegal. I download everything from the internet. Not that I have much choices anyway.
