[KMS] Party EXP Change
#1
In Patch 1.2.80 or something, KMS did a Party EXP change, in which the EXP distribution was changed.

How did this affect KMS? What exactly was this change? Will GMS ever get this?

I believe it was returning it to the one gMS currently has.

No, I don't think it ever will.

Well it got better. I was cPQing at the time, getting about 1% per PQ from sitting and leeching before the patch, 10% after.

That KMS change was only on test servers and if i remember never got released on game, some ppl believe change was made to avoid the power lvling that happened with cygnus and to avoid it on release of Aran class. In the end nothing changed.

Nope, some sort of change did get implemented. I saw it on the official KMS website patch notes. It was applied in 1.2.78, which is the release of Aran.

"9. 파티 간 경험치 분배 비율이 수정되었습니다."
Party's EXP Distribution has been modified

You missed 3 months later:

http://spadow.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/k...p-formula/

"All things that were added in KMST were added: Sheep Ranch event, Cygnus changes and the new EXP distribution formula has been changed. They’re all mentioned in the patch note of 1.2.71."

Then it changed again, with no notes/explanation in June.

This is why people are asking if the 2nd change was putting it back, or what it did.

There's been a lot of talk about the new exp splitting formula(s), but what actually is it/are they?

If it stops leeching I'm down with it.

If it stops effective party training it can GTFO.

I don't understand; how can a change to the exp formula stop effective party training? The biggest negative impacts on exp gain are for physical attackers training with mages (and not unbearably so unless you're like a 13x NL training with a 1 hitting Bishop), and the rate at which priests can train by purely leeching exp like at Newties.

With a 2hkoing Bishop at Skeles I get 14.x m/hr, with HS + an attacker that kills about the same speed at me I get 10.x. A change to the exp formula would lower my exp with a Bishop to somewhere between those two numbers, which isn't bad at all.

People will still be able to leech with a changed formula, I'm guessing it'll just change things so that leechers won't be able to level at a rate that normal training can't compete with.

Actually the alleged change would make it so that each person was effectively gaining solo level XP plus party bonus.

So basically FoG splitting with a bonus...

Good for ulti-users. Bad for everyone else xd. Bonus is like 10% of monster exp or something..

so to make it clear, the exp change is out and working now or not?

In kMS yea.
Leeching is horrible EXP,
party training is more balanced.

Hmmm this could be an interesting change, although this would mean Bishops and/or AM's would be leveling even faster than they are now and their bottomer(or bottomers) would level even slower, we all know bishops kill the fastest and theyre also killing 2-3 plats, where as bottomers generally get 1-2 plats from what ive seen, so this could affect that in a "negative" way, but if you ask me this would be a perfect way to distribute the exp to each person goes their own exp kinda thing, i believe this would lead to more people soloing in ToT tho which is good and bad, and since you have more meleebased and ranged based people in ToT that means Bishops and AM's will have a hard time finding bottomers for Skele pt to keep the spawn up and thus they will also get less exp, basically if this was implimented.. to me.. it looks liek everyone would get less exp sept maybe ppl who train in ToT already(high lvl f/p mages)

That all being said.. i would still like this, i do not like the fact that people can leech their chars to bam 140 and be like "wut" when you try to critisize them about it but i see 1 potential problem with this, i think the bonus from HS would need to be kicked up a bit for Priests, cause if theyre not getting a share of the exp and theyre only getting the (60% of what they kill) well 60% of 0 = OMG 0 but they COULD work it out that they get the % of the exp of a monster killed by anyone which would mean if you have a pt of 5 atkrs and 1 priest in a map and each attacker is getting say 1K for the exp from the monster and getting the extra 60% from hs meaning theyre gettin 1600 per kill they do for each attacker then ur looking @ a priest getting that 600 exp from EACH attacker each time they kill something .. which if you have 3 attackers killing @ the same rate(thinks of a balanced jnpt) then the priest is getting the most exp.. add 2 more attackers and their exp woudl dwarf any atkrs exp gain, and then there would be another big GRRRR factor that priests are getting too much exp then theres the factor of when that priest hits Bishop.. will they still leech when an atkr kills? will they only gain from their kills? what if they dont have Gene yet and are not attacking? its a very complex system the exp gain would have to be based on to be fair and even work at all and sadly the current system may proove to be the only way to do it

my personal opinion is that they should make the exp curve gained for being a higher lvl than your other pt members a quadratic formula so the lower your other member is the less they get in a significant ammount 1 lvl lower =1 less exp per kill leeched.. 2 lvls lower = 4 less 3 lvls lower = 9 less kinda thing(but of corse worked out into a percentage) this would drastically cut down on like the lvl 7X's being leeched by 14X bishops @ harps by reducing the exp gain to such a degree that it would be much much faster to train on your own

iight enough jibberish typing.. basically.. if i have to sum it up ... DONT Buy/Sell/Get for free from a friend/Trade, Leech and i thikn they should get rid of leeching in anyway shape or form

Actually one of the simple maths most people don't really grasp is that as long as (nonleeching) HS is present, an AM/Bishop can party with someone ~20 levels below them (the exact level range changes as the level rises) and lose 0 XP - The current formula's level difference penatly, party bonus, and HS work together to make them come out 10% ahead of solo with HS. It creates a massive boost for whoever you're partying with, while giving you a minor help as well.Because of this, when the person with the AM/Bishop actually can contribute signficantly the AM/Bishop makes a good chunk of additional XP over solo.

Swapping to the "only credited for the damage you do" model will reduce everyone's gain except the people who are alerady soloing.

They probably will continue to gain more experience, considering they do most of the damage.
