Maple Bank!
#1
I think we need a banking system for our mesos. I have not played in months (15 today), and I hate to think my mesos are all just sitting there, not gaining any interest! It disappoints me greatly! I think we should have a place (called a bank) where you can deposit or withdraw mesos, and have them gain a steady amount of mesos, with no restrictions. You could also be able to set up a long term "no-touchie" account, where you put in x amount of mesos, and you can't take them out until the time is up on the account, which may be 2 months-24 months, or time by levels. For example, once you hit level 80, you want the account to end. The bonus to this would be a high interest rate than the normal account. After the no-touchie account's time is up, the money would just go into your normal account. You can have up to 5 no-touchie accounts, and only 1 normal account. I've look into the interest rates of these, and here is what I got (with max money) for .02% (0.0002):
With interest coming every day:
You gain 163,000,000 in a year.
With interest coming every week:
You gain 22,448,000 in a year.

As you can see, the weekly payments are the safer choice, but people would grow impatient with this. Also this is done with starting by putting 2.14B mesos in at the beginning. If you begin with 1,000,000 mesos, then here are the results:
With interest coming every day:
You gain 76,400 in a year.
With interest coming every week:
You gain 10,500 in a year.
Here you see that the interest is significantly reduced to something very minimal. It would take 9.5 years to double your initial value with daily interest.

Here is a summary:
-You have a bank in Maplestory where you can place your mesos
-There are two types of banking systems: Normal, and No-Touchie
-In the normal bank, you can place in mesos, and it will gain 0.02% of that money each day/week.
-You can withdraw and deposit money at anytime with no restrictions on it.
-In the no-touchie back, you can place in mesos, with a minimum of 1 million, and it will gain a boosted interest rate (TBD) each day/week.
-You can not touch the mesos in the no-touchie bank until the time, in which you specify beforehand, expires. This time can be measured by actual days/weeks, or levels.
-The time for the no-touchie bank has a minimum time of 2 months, or 5 levels, depending on which you choose.
-You may only have 1 normal bank account, but you can have up to 5 different no-touchie accounts. This is because people may want more accounts, for different plans (lvl 11x training $$, lvl 70 equips, etc) going on at the same time.

So what do you think?

I think this is a REALLY good idea and I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been implemented already.

Yeah, I have been thinking of a banking system, but with the storage as the bank. Basically the same idea as your normal bank.

However, I scrapped it when I realized it can cause inflation...although it is minimal with low interest rates.

Would be nice, considering the 30 mill just sitting in my bandit's bank. A shame, that's what it is. A shame.

I thought of a loan system but that would never be possible @_@
The only way I could think about getting meso back to the bank would be implementing a secondary tax that would take away meso from monster drops, trades and it would pay off your debt. But sadly it would be way too easy to just scam the system @_@
edit: Unless you do some type of collateral, like 5k nx to take out a loan or something. You buy a 5k NX ticket for a 50mil loan, give the NPC the ticket, you get your 50mil and once the 50mil is completely paid off you get your 5k NX back. But this would be pretty much the same as buying mesos. Sigh.

The interest would be nice =D Personally I also need a place where I can keep mesos out of sight so I don't spend it frivolously on stuff again and again. Currently I use the storage system for that. Tongue

They've been taxing us on EVERYTHING - from trade tax, to shop tax, and now we're even taxed for looting mesos. It's time we actually start earning.

I would definitely want a banking system.

Since maple doesn't have a controlled system for introducing more meso into the economy (monsters simply generate mesos) the game is by default inflating, we have many systems in place to reduce that effect. Including a new system to put more mesos into the game would be dumb...

We need WAAAY more meso sinks (pots don't count) before a Maple Bank can be implemented. A smashing idea though. I too would like to earn some interest just for saving my money.

How about adding in more possible meso sinks? That will counteract the bank interest for the greedy, but won't harm the miserly. An example would be being able to pay an NPC 5m mesos for a 1 hour buff (think Echo-worthy, but only 80% of the effect or something). You can bet lots of damage whores would want that.
