For me, it's had a few different impacts -
Going from 23k HP to not even 3k HP (DrK ---> Outlaw) makes me tend to forget at times that I am not invincible. I also will gravitate towards large mobs and throughly enjoy the challenge of killing them without getting overrun.
For my Soul Master, it's almost a direct translation - I simply apply what I do with Fury to Soul Blade - the skills work very similarly.
For both characters, I also have a crazy habit of jumping forward while attacking that I learned from being a PD DK back when I was 8x. It lessened knockback from getting hit and helped me do damage and remain mobile at the same time. Not being able to jump attack easily was the main deterrent for me from playing an Archer or a Mage. I also tend to completely ignore solitary enemies, or aggro them once while moving to the next target, only to finish them off later. Not so much on the Outlaw as my Dawn Warrior, but still there. I also use my summons on my Outlaw more as lures than damage dealers - I'll place an Octo when I leave a platform in order to bunch the enemies on the side when I come back for convenient killing.

Different classes different methods
Pot hotkeys are also different (But that's for every character, not class dependent)

I actually keep my skills on a generic keyboard layout where possible.
Summons on \
ASDF for buffs, potions
ZXCV for attacks
BN for extra buffs
Y for rarely-used attacks
and some non-important things.

I have a basic layout for all of my characters:
Insert: HP pot
Home: MP pot
Pg Down: Summon
Pg Up: Magic Guard
A: Chair
C: Basic attack (swing weapon)
Control: Weak skill
Delete: Strong skill
End: Backup strong skill
I, too, sometimes forget that I have low HP on my cygnus, becuase I always play on my i/l

Before I made my Sniper, I was a Hermit. When I made my Sniper, I jumped when I was doing...anything. Passed on to my Brawler, Cleric...>_>

I stick to using Mages. I try to Teleport too much and get disappointed otherwise.

Jump-casting Soul Runner on my Soul Master is too easy; I've had a year's worth of practice with jump-casting Boomerang Step on my main.

I adjust my playing style accordingly.

I'm loving the Windbeaker, with the mob skillI tend to run into monsters + kb them just like rush cept instead of moving forward i just storm break + stand there and kill. not too bad lol, I miss the HP & stance though since I have to constantly pot here.
Being 18x on main helps since it boosts my cygnus +18 plus all the accuracy lol

Well, I switched a lot to be honest. So I might as well post my history on here, blah.
Joined MS about 2 years back or so, started as a Warrior (go figure..), and made a Pole Arm Dragon Knight. Got that to 10x, thanks to many of my friends inspiring me, of course, this was pre-leeching times and pre-4th job era.
As I trained my PADK to 10x, around 6x or so, I made a female Sin (for fun), and ended up training that all the way to 70 about x3 faster than I could on my Pole Armer. Eventually, once my DK reached lv 10x, I quit it. I then played my Hermit all the way to 120. Became a Night Lord, of course. I tried making a:
-LUKless Bishop/Priest (got bored, stopped around 5x)
-Outlaw (didn't work in Scania, I got bored, but I made a Corsair in another server)
-Buccaneer in another server, got boring after a while.
Now my current goal is to make a Soul Master since I always wanted to use swords. =) It does affect my main character, since I'm too used to have a massive amount of avoid and a low amount of HP. I always pot after '1' hit on my Night Lord. On a Soul Master, I feel slower.. much.. slower, and I attack a lot slower, unlike on the Night Lord.
If I switch back to a Night Lord from playing a DK / Soul Master, I start to suck, since I'd be too used to a Warrior's high HP. xP I get used to it eventually though. Characters I currently have in Scania:
-10x PADK (still lots of PA'er pride, lol <3)
-133 Night Lord
-14x Bishop
I'll be remaking my Soul Master soon.

My keys are always similar (except for my Brawler, too many attacks). Attack on X, pickup on Z, jump on C, a mob attack or mobility skill on D/V, Booster and whatever other buffs on A/S/F/PageDown, pots on Delete/End, etc.
Really, since I'm a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy, I can stop one character for a little while and pick up on another almost instantly, even if the play styles are completely different.

I use the same key configs for my characters. The bowmaster, my first character (my cousin gave it to me at level 20 =D), is a favorite. I added points to HP so he could live longer, but his damage suffered (Not that i care too much about that- That's what Cygnus was for =P).
Then i changed to a Buccaneer when they came out. I probably should have been a warrior cause i like having the close range fighting as it's much more active than the bowmaster's single key stroke + some variation.
So going from "damn i almost fell asleep sniping newties" to "Holy crap i have to press a million buttons" was a large change, not to mention the HP barrier that i jumped (low->> high the main reason i made the Buccaneer in the first place).
I still play both, though i play the buccaneer more cause i have to pay atetntion for the invincibility frames =P

I recently remapped all of my characters to this setting:
jump- J
main attack- G
secondary attack- H
mob attack- space
macro'd buffs- shift
movement skill/ short timer- Page down
end- MP
delete- HP
and the rest of the skills are somewhere around G, H, or J. I find the center of the keyboard the best place for my hand to rest.

I'll probably have issues with it because I spacebar jump. I don't see myself using Soul Runner often anyway though, based on how I control my character. I'll probably get criticized for that, but I don't really care.

When I switched from my priest to my F/P I had a real hard time getting used to using MG and learning to press the potion button more generously.
Now that I started a TB (played a priest, F/P and xbow) I feel so stupid not hitting stuff because the attacks are so close ranged =D. I frequently miss FF or SSK because I use it from too far.
