Tibaroo (Forum Admin) Wrote:The MapleWatch Leaf Brigade Program is now live! After carefully going through all the applications, we have selected a number of Watchers to patrol our servers. These Watchers will begin patrolling servers within the next couple of days.
We would like to thank everyone that applied to our program. For many of those wondering why they weren’t chosen, we would like to explain a few of the reasons why some applicants may not have been accepted into this program:
· For some applicants, we found associated accounts to their main account that was not mentioned.
o We realize that many players have multiple accounts and they may not remember all of their accounts, however, some of the associated accounts had a history of abuse. It was because of the ban history for their alternate accounts that we could not accept these applicants into the program.
· Any account found with a history of abuse in any of our games was not accepted into the MapleWatch Leaf Brigade.
o In addition, any account with a close association to another account with a history of abuse was screened heavily before continuing the application process. If the screening showed any possibility that the associated accounts were guilty of breaking our Terms of Use in any way, the original applicant may have been disqualified.
· We found applicants that shared their account information.
o Many players believe that sharing their accounts is okay. However, sharing accounts is against our Terms of Use. There was a question on our application regarding shared accounts and it allowed applicants to admit to account sharing and provide us with the reason why. For players that admitted to account sharing, we ran a full investigation on their accounts to decide if they were still possible candidates to this program. For players that did not admit to sharing account information and we found evidence showing that they shared accounts, we disqualified as a possible candidate. For players that left the question blank and their account showed evidence of sharing, we also disqualified as a possible candidate.
· As one of our means of testing and communication required voice communication, access to a microphone was needed.
o If players did not have a microphone, they were not immediately disqualified. Most players without a microphone stated their willingness to “make it happen” if needed.
o Not having a microphone had a very minimal impact on the overall assessment of MWLB candidates. (This means that no one was directly disqualified just because of this one requirement.)
· If an applicant was not willing/able to submit a form of identification this could have been a reason to disqualify the applicant.
o We completely respect our player’s concerns. If a player did not want to provide the identification we would not make them, however to be considered for the program, one of the requirements is that you have to prove your identity.
· Some applicants did not meet the character level requirement and/or account age requirement.
For those of you who have not yet been contacted, there might be a few reasons why you have not received an email from us:
· We never received your email.
· Our email response may have went to your junk or spam folder.
· We may still be processing your application. (We have a few that we are still working on.)
Again, thank you to all the players that applied to the MapleWatch Leaf Brigade program. And congratulations to those that made it in!

Wow they were really intensive with the account sharing which is a little out of hand in my opinion for them to cast a verdict so harshly on those people including myself.

Yeah they're like 'mini GMs'.. i think they're not needed though considering that we now have the "Alert GM" function. I hope people don't start 'reporting' people for no reason -_-..
Edit: And the sharing account thing, that's pretty lame to disqualify some people for..

Yeah, this whole program looks to be a real fail, which is too bad. I mean, the judging criteria is just ridiculous... how many people are there out here who have never gone on an account that is not their own? I mean, close to none? So I get disqualified for being a buyer player... hmms. TOS or not, that is justttt stupid.

I see their screening as a good thing, including all their disqualifications. They want to make sure the minimal powers the mini-gms have will not be abused. Plus they said those who admitted it were not directly disqualified, just had to be looked into more.
Plus I always found it moronic to share account details no matter the circumstance. Need to Zrun? Try yourself. Computer can't handle it? Sorry to hear that, just keep trying.

Sure, let's call a program that could help the overall game become better to play in "fail". Makes complete sense.
Why is there always unnecessary bashing?
If the conditions and criteria for judging was so excruciating, do people really think they'd choose one of those "vwvwwvw" hackers to start monitoring the game? I don't think so. Nexon's really trying to make some kind of difference. Let's first see how it goes.

Just because the person hasn't done anything "bad" and gotten accepted, doesn't mean he won't be a d'ick and start abusing stuff though. Power is very tempting, even if it is as minor as reporting directly to a GM instead of just banning willy nilly.
Also, i found the microphone thing to be extremely retarded. What if i don't like microphones? What if i enjoy listening to my music instead of talking to some douche while i ban people?

I never said that there wouldn't be temptation of power. Like you said, it's always tempting. But it does not mean that every single person is going to abuse it, either. Shockingly enough, there are good people in the game. And maybe, justtttttttt maybe, some of them got selected.
They did say that the microphone issue wasn't a very important factor towards someone getting accepted or declined. But the fact of the matter is, they're looking for people who are at least attempting or trying to be professional about it. Professional over Maplestory? Yeah, I know. It sounds silly, but it's true. Most people now'a'days do have microphones, so it wasn't really an issue. And half or more than the others who did not have them seemed to have been dedicated enough to go remedy the situation.
I can understand them wanting the Brigadiers to have a mic, too. Email can be too slow sometimes (and issues, such as going to spam, not sending correctly, etc.). I'm pretty sure people don't want to get up and phone Nexon Corporation every 20 minutes to report something, and neither does Nexon. Hell no to snail-mail. So that leaves IM and microphones. The general public has microphones. They're small, voice goes through clearly, you can report things as you go along and yatta, yatta, yatta.

I'm actually a little scared at the thought of an everyday MapleStory player having that kind of power. I really want this program to do well, but I think there's just too many people out there that will let the power go to their head.

I'm glad they are so stringent on the account sharing. Now lets hope these people make a difference in game...

Since they are "mini-GMs", we can expect them to do maybe 50% of what GMs do. Since GMs have done almost nothing recently, and that is about 30% useful-ness, then we can expect the Leaf Brigade to get 10% useful-ness! =D (the subtracted 5% is because of the time spent flaunting.)

From what I've heard, they used the microphones to conduct interviews as Stage 3.

I agree with the heaviness of the judging, it usually signifies that they are really intent on this program going through without many problems.
With the account sharing, i never really let anyone go onto any of my accounts, unless i know them well, and it is to help myself out in a way. Hell, even when i thought i knew someone i didnt let them on. Back when Papagoose12 (scum of bello IMHO) was still active, he would bug me to let him try out my ranger, even though, 1, he was a ranger himself, and 2, he was higher lvled.
Theres been only 2 times that i let someone onto my account. One time was so that i could use my BM to help me get the Mark Of Heroism on my Brawler, with me on my BM, and the friend on my brawler. The second time was when my friend was going to take me onto a zrun for me, that his guild was running, because i cant even last through the arms while on dial up. Aside from that, i laugh off other when they ask to try my account.

Original question on application:
· Does anyone else have access to your account(s)? If so, please explain who and why.
And then...
Is that the question they're talking about? I answered "no", because nobody else has access to my account. In the past someone did but I didn't realize that's what the question was even asking o_O I've changed both password and pin since then, so no, they don't have access to it.
I guess now I know why I got disqualified then.
