HP Requirement for Pink Bean
#1
A lot of people I knew in-game were asking about this and hp washing and whatnot, so I just wanted to clear this up for everyone. PS I lied on SW.

The bare, bare minimum damage you need to survive is a 830MA attack, lightning elemental. This is the full-map lightning strike of wiseman solomon's second form (far left statue of phase 5). 830 is the exact MA of anego's pink thrust thing or whatever you want to call that attack, and because damage taken appears to be affected by a ton of things and because people tend to have varying magic defenses (especially horntail vs. naricain pendant), taking anego damage is a good way to test. Make sure you'll be having the exact same amount of defense and stats as you will during the fight for an accurate measurement. The damage is about 5300. Note that wiseman rex dispels sometimes though, so it's a good idea to have this much base hp as a precaution because the lightning strike comes from solomon.

It's highly, highly recommended that you be able to survive a 1000PA attack. This is the shout attack of wiseman rex's first form (far right statue of phases 2-4). The reason it's only very highly recommended to have the hp for as opposed to absolutely required is because it only strikes in front of wiseman rex, to its left, and the main statue smacking will be from its right. This means that you only need to survive the attack while crossing the map towards the right, which also means that you can get by hoping for a miss, being hit by solomon at the same time, or rex not using the attack while you're crossing. You can't commit suicide and wheel of destiny across because you revive on the left side of the map, not the right, so crossing through the range of this attack is mandatory. Also, you only need to survive this weaker form of the attack as opposed to its stronger phase 5 form (1060PA) because you should start phase 5 on the right, and you should kill rex before crossing the map left. You might want to test this on a monster for the same reasons explained above. This attack has the exact same damage as a high darkstar (immobile pap bomb on platforms) explosion as well as a black crow touch and both of black crow's attacks, which is around 8300. Note that the attack also simultaneously causes 20-damage-per-second poison, so don't live on the edge.

As for crossing to the left, you'll have to also survive a 900MA attack (phases 3-4) or a 960MA attack and a 1300MA attack (phase 5). It's not too important though because you can just die, and wheel of destiny will bring you to the left. Also, if you have the hp to cross right, you'll have the hp to cross left in phases 3-4 and in phase 5 if you get lucky with not getting hit by ariel's lasers.

In phase 5, as mentioned above, ariel's near-unavoidable lasers do 1300MA, so just pray that you won't get hit and use wheel of destiny if you do. Maybe you can jump over the beams attached to the ground while on the top platform like pianus weights, no idea. Either way, it's not worth the effort to get hp for. I don't have a point of comparison since this is the highest MA attack I know of, but it does about a bit over 13k damage.

In the actual pink bean fight, ranged attackers don't really need any hp. Assuming pink bean's pinned properly, you can duck under the lasers, stay out of range of big bang, and duck under the treble clefs, meaning the only attack that will hit you is 1/1 + seal, making it sort of like a grandpa fight except with more ducking and some other fun stuff. Damage reflect comes out at 90% hp left with a 20-second duration and 60-second cooldown, making a 40-second window for attack. It hits 5000-15000 damage, and if you've fought lilynouch you'd know how unavoidable it is. With pink bean, it's even more unavoidable due to the massive damage numbers covering the animation and the animation's similarity to big bang, so make sure you have a stopwatch by your computer to avoid it. Summons come out at 80% hp left, but they shouldn't really be a bother if the squad has enough archmages, who should be there for slow anyways. Also, summons don't deal a whole lot of damage relatively, their max damage is a tiny bit more than right pianus's laser (800MA vs. 780MA). They don't do anything other than cast wep cancel and attack.

Melee attackers need to be able to survive the big bang attack, which is 1500PA, exactly the same damage as an anego slap, which is like 17k damage or so. Rushers (and corkscrewers I guess) need to be able to take pink bean's touch damage in case of failed rushes or rushes straight into the wall, which is 1700PA. A rusher with extremely high hp plus defensive skills is preferred because of the 5k-15k damage reflect, combined with possible touch damage. Someone needs to keep pink bean pinned with damage reflect up. With 30k hp, maxed achilles, and powerguard, a high-end hit of reflect plus touch damage may be survivable. Again, I don't have a point of comparison because the closest points are the above 1500PA and gpq dark sight golems' 1999PA, but this measures to about 23k damage.

Don't feel like reading?
Normal ranged: enough to survive black crow touch/attacks
Ranged feeling lucky: enough to survive anego's long(er)-range attack
Melee who don't touch PB: enough to survive anego slap
Melee rushers: enough to survive 1700PA, whatever that is (around 23k I guess)
Sacrificial lamb rusher (at least one per squad): 30k hp + maxed achilles + powerguard
The above is all including hyperbody.

Note, especially for Corsairs, but for low HP ranged classes in general - touching a PB summon while keeping it behind you (maybe dedicate 1 rusher to this) instead of taking a hit is also possible, though it requires communication for AMs not to obliterate it.

If possible, Marksmen should NOT be using Snipe, as it will interfere with Rushing. Any enemy being kb'd cannot be pushed with Rush, so unless a single MM can keep it pinned, Snipe is a no-no. Having a Shadower in the melee/rush party can help too.

Really interesting.

I'm really looking forward to the first attempts to kill Pink Bean on GMS.

Also, nice tips, Cyanne. This should help the Pink Bean attempters a bit.

I'm surprised it's been over 10 days and no one had tried PB in gms yet. People being cheap on masks, mirite? Goggleemoticon

The summons have two attacks: one's a faster, single-target physical attack and the other's a slower, multiple-target magic attack. The multiple-target attack is going to annoy everyone because ranged people don't have stance, and it isn't fast enough to protect from other attacks =/

Kind of a waste of money for a serious, 30-person run with wheel of destiny and cygnus blessing both still unreleased. With those two things though, pink bean just might be possible to complete in under an hour in gMS with the crazy att potions, though probably not unless everyone's on demon elixirs.

Very nice, I think the people who are going to take on PB are going to love you.

But still, having as much HP as possible is always good right?

Thanks for the info, it's pretty useful. My guild is going to attempt a run some time soon. >_o

I think it's funny that people have been all RANGED NEED 12K HP TO SURVIVE PB wtp and it turns out that the only people that need to HP wash are warriors (if required to rush).

I'm pretty sure that a level 200 drk has over 23k hp even without hp washes.

And if the Rushers ever fail to keep him facing them, Pink Bean turns around and hits at about an 800 range (twice most ranged classes) for 1300MA, or his "big bang" for 1500PA, which is 13500 and 18000 approximately.

1700PA is a little over 23000 damage like you said. I believe Horntail's tail is 1680 PA touch damage.

@ above, with HB a rough guide is 104*level. At 200 they'd have maybe 21000 + gear (currently just 300 hp pendant, most likely - 480 w/ hb)

According to Cyanne's model for how PB should be attempted it doesn't matter which way he's facing. If he's pinned in the right corner of the map his Genesis attack can be ducked under.

I think Shadowers may need to wash a little to survive, too. 17k damage? Unless they want to spam BStep except when Smoke goes up.

Something's missing here... Oh yeah, what happens when PB hits you with any of its attacks. I seriously stress avoiding the music attack because that shyt seduces you.

The Genesis attack I was told stuns people, and unless PB is in certain spots of the map (like the right corner like Cyanne mentioned), it's pretty much unavoidable. Ride this out if you guys can =/

You're forgetting about his Big Bang attack (the 17k damage one). Cyanne said to "stay out of range" of it, but it's impossible to stay out of range of it when it has longer range than any ranged class. So the only way to not be in range is to have him facing the warriors.

Sidenote: Can Corsairs just... not use their boat at all unless they can take a hit from the treble cleff/reverse genesis? Because if so, that really blows. B> Boat ducking ability

I assume ranged classes have a max range of 400. PB's Big Bang has a max range of 500. I'm having serious doubts that the ranged classes can identify the attack fast enough and run away consistently for 2.1 billion HP worth of fighting, let alone do this while PB is literally being covered by flashy attack effects and hugeass numbers. (I'm thinking Rellik fights)

archer range is 440, nl is 400, corsair is 350 or less (and like a crappy 100 for their normal attack lol...)

puppet extends effective attacking range by ABOUT 50 pixels, but as we all know it clearly doesn't work in parties.

According to fiel, cannon is 400, and rapid fire is 350. Goggleemoticon

Shoot you're right lol xP The animation is misleading, that big bang is pretty darn small.

It's going to tricky... but pink bean will probably have to be kept exactly 400 pixels to the right of any elevated portion of the throne facing right (B>AM with slow). That's the best solution I can think of, assuming melee characters don't want to be completely cramped into a 1-character-wide space where any pink bean movement means pretty much repeatedly taking massive touch damage. Anyhow, this is just to clear up hp requirements for pink bean and not strategy, so the hp requirement still stands okay.

By the way, how do you find actual range of the attack? The range data for areaWarning-type attacks is for each piece of the attack.

Can you duck straight off a battleship demount? You can with normal mounts o.o

Edit: I was bored so I made this

 Spoiler

Red/1: lasers
Green/2: big bang
Blue/3: treble clefs
Yellow/4: 1/1

I put numbers on the top left corners of each rectangle since the colors overlapping made it hard to see. It's not exact, but it's a rough representation of what's going on while pink bean's being kept there. And I'm pretty sure lasers will also appear to the right on the floor, just forgot to add that in (assuming it will not be within 400 pixels of the right edge of the map).

^Spoiler please? Frown I have a widescreen set to the highest resolution available (1280x800, yes, it's a laptop) and that image is twice as wide as my screen.

It's a really helpful image, though. =) Especially for people like me who are too lazy to watch videos (or level enough to matter at PB!), yet still want to lurk strategy threads.
