Ask a Magician Thread.
CrazyNomad Wrote:a quick question, what lvl a cleric must be to hit grims and himes with heal?

It depends on how much +INT you're getting from your gear.

I hit often enough to leech and get awesome experience from himes at 7x. I've heard some go at 6x, and even some very-well equipped ones at at late 5x.

Or you can try out this calc: http://nekonecat.googlepages.com/magicacc.htm

Late 6x, depends on your equips though. I didn't 100% hit with my HP equips until like 85? But that's with HP equips, and I was hitting it all at least once anyway. Having MW is a big help. I assume you're doing this with friends, since it's hard to find a party without HS... unless you find someone who's soloing and is poor.

Chameleonic Wrote:I have a lv 48 Cleric I started about 4 years ago and it has 51 Luk, will it make much of a difference to my damage in the longrun or should I start over and go Lukless?

I'm planing on making it a leechmule to help me level my other chars.Rolleyes

My bishop has 50 LUK. Yes, my damage is okay, and I don't have like uber-godly equips. I just started 2hko'ing Skeles most of the time with 15 Gen at 130. I can't 100% 1hko Harps yet. My gloves, overall, and Zhelm are clean; I have a Dep Star, a 113/10 Phoenix Wand, a 5/7 PuAC, and 6/9 earrings.

I'm doing a lot better than a friend of mine at the same level who can't 2hko at all with level 18 Gen, because he has ~100 LUK and no Zhelm yet.

On the other hand, I could probably do better damage as a LUKless with just a Zhelm and a decently scrolled Wisdom Staff. Heck, even a clean Wisdom probably. Plus, I'd have more MP, which would be better for surviving lasers + Gen at Skeles. (Not like I die like I lagdied as a priest, but I do die fairly often when I don't have HB.)

It's up to you: Restart the cleric now, or spend 5-10 extra levels on the bishop to get it to the most efficient damage for leeching. Considering how fast (15-25%/hour on 1x) I've blown through my 12x, I'd lean towards continuing the cleric, actually. But if you think there's any chance you'll fall in love with your cleric (I did; mine was intended to fund a low-DEX warrior) and want to continue it, I'd restart as LUKless.

What equips/weapon do lukless use before they reach lv 64 for the Maple Staf/wand? Surely not the beginner wand. lol

Depends on how much you feel like you need more damage between 10 and 64. A lot of people don't bother. But you can use Yellow Umbrellas, Maple Staffs, and of course Lamas and Nocturnals.

Your damage will be perfectly fine with a Wooden Wand, though. (Not the beginner one, the one you buy from the Ellinia NPC weapon shop.) 100% if you like.

Really, as a LUKless, your damage advantage is just from your base INT at that level... weapons are a bonus.

It's kinda like a 2nd job sin training without warrior elixirs.

Ahh thanks. I guess playing a magician class will bring a whole new experience to Maple.

Can someone link me to a video of how to mist at skelegons before level 120, if possible, with dual channeling?

I haven't watched the whole thing yet, so I don't know if it'll help or not.

I've got a level 58 cleric I've played on and off since I started Maple back in '05. As he was my first character, I don't really have any fantastic equips for him. I also maxed Holy Arrow, and currently have 1 point in MP Eater. I'd certainly love to get him to Priest, but training is horribly tedious and I am pretty limited in terms of where to go.

- Is it a character worth keeping? If so, where would I train with him?
- Or should I just delete the character and start over?

Blaze Wizard question of opinion. A little while back there was a thread for builds where quite a few people came to the consensus that Fire Arrow was only worth 1 point. I would personally max arrow and go with 11 booster, 10 slow. Maybe no slow, haven't decided. Why skip fire arrow and/or is anyone else out there in preference of max fire arrow? I really don't see much use for slow other than Pap, compared with a 1 on 1 damage improvement until lvl85ish when my fire strike would be superior, maybe even later.

People don't max Fire Arrow because you should never be 1v1 attacking. If you are, you're doing it wrong.

Well no pomegranate. Fire Pillar first absolutely. You don't train 100% of the time though. There's plenty of use for a 1v1 move. I wanna know what makes slow so much more useful in the minds of some.

Stopping mobs from running you over to save a few pots, or escaping to a safe spot is what i use slow for.

What equips should a lukless cleric have at 30?
Where should I be training?

Seal + Slow = lol poisoned mobs can't do pomegranate.

Blaze Wizard Fire Arrow is weaker than regular FA. Fire Strike is stronger than fire DEMON. It just completely kills any purpose that Fire Arrow may have. How often do you think you're going to use Fire Arrow anyway? Magic Claw is more than enough for luring and attacking stray monsters until 3rd job. 2nd job should be a breeze.

I believe this is the right place to ask.

So I'm making a Blaze Wizard with little to no clue with magicians as I've never made a second character that isn't a mule. With a warrior, STR is for power and DEX for accuracy, but then there's INT/LUK for magicians. I'm sure INT is for power, but LUK's affect is beyond me, and I don't know caps and such for these stats. Any of you pro magicians want to literally throw the book of facts at my face so I don't screw my character up when KoC is released? Glitter

Simplest is just to go lukless. Can't get any simpler than just pumping int and nothing else.

Okay, thanks. Also, what would result in putting LUK in? I would just like to know so I'd have that common knowledge since this is a new class, afterall. Biggrin
