The Venom Equation

I'm pretty sure Venom's damage is the same irregardless of Elemental Advantage. I'm sure this has been discussed before. If you really want to find out, go get a Garnier & Subis and toss at some Crocos.

If a monster is poisoned three times already, can the duration be maintained indefinitely or will the poison have to run out before being able to add another poison?

You can poison a monster more than 3 times. I put on weak gear for the purpose of trying to figure this out and I've been attacking vikings - I was able to poison it 4 times. So I know that it's only 3 poisons at any given time for sure. Doing some further testing, will report back.

EDIT: It looks like you must wait for the current poison to run out (I hit ~6k 3 times and on the Triple Throw immediately after, I hit ~10k 3 times - with venom damage, of course).

If a monster is already poisoned and it is poisoned a second time, is the total duration extended to the new poison?

Adding venom hits does extend the duration of the previous hits to the new damage, I think. That seems to be the case as I've seen 2.4k, 2.4k, ~7k, ~7k, ~7k in succession with a break afterward.

Do you happen to have any screen shots showing this blue damage?
It seems very interesting and i'm wondering what it actually is.

Single number? E.g. not TT+SP or anything?

5490~12438 is your Venom range. No Thief exists that could possibly hit anywhere near 20000 on a single Venom.You're doing the math wrong. Very wrong. I'd like to know how though.

I am really glad that people are trying to figure this formula out. According to your formula I should be able to hit about 29k with 3 poisons on one mob. Though I wish that 29k was achievable for me, my highest thus far has only been 20k.

Here is my take on a Venom Damage formula which puts an exponential stacking on the damage each time a mob is poisoned. I did this because it always seemed to me that the damage started off really weak with 1 poison, but got much stronger with 2 or 3 poisons. I have tested it since level 120 and it seems to hold true.

As you can see I just use the min/max thief damage formula and add in the added attack from venom. The number of hits stacks to achieve the high damage. I also need to give credit to Banditcom on sleepy because I used his mob w. defense modifier at the end of the Min/Max formula to try and make the formula more accurate on different level mobs.


Min Dmg = (Luk*.9*3.6*Mastery+(Str+Dex)/100)*(Total W. ATK + Venom Attack)- (W.def *.6)
Max Dmg = (Luk*3.6+(Str+Dex)/100)*(Total W. ATK + Venom Attack)- (W.def *.6)

The .6 in the W. Def part of the formula can be adjusted between .5 and .6 relative to the level you are to the mob you are attacking. I usually leave this number at .6 and it seems to work great.

From here on out lets make
Min Dmg = A
Max Dmg = B

1 Venom Hit Formula:
Min = A
Max = B
Average= (Min+Max)/2

2 Venom Hit Formula:
Min = A*3
Max = B*3
Average= (Min+Max)/2

3 Venom Hit Formula:
Min = A*6
Max = B*6
Average= (Min+Max)/2

So with your formula , Im getting

So If I hit Venom 3 times I should be able to get 29,670k Right?

Poison damage and heal damage are displayed as a 16 bit signed integer. If you can do more than 32767 damage, it "rolls around" and displays negative damage, which is interpreted as healing so it shows up in blue.

ex the 32618 in blue in that screenshot is actually 32918 damage.

OK so I totaly fail at order of operations. Still please take a look at my venom dmg formula because W. Atk seems to make a difference when I use different atk claws.
