Anyway....I guess this is good considering I've never liked Sony at all.

For the people arguing performance benchmarks, although the PS3 has a much more complex and promising processor inside of it, it's an extremely obscure architecture that makes it work. There's a reason for the PS3's high price tag, and a reason why developers such as Activision have complained of how expensive it is to develop for it.

I remember the Playstation 1 coming out. Sony came out of literally nowhere and started competing with NINTENDO as an equal. NINTENDO. Sony is one of the most powerful and creative corporations in the world, with a lot of talent and a history of doing things quality-like. This CEO is making a public statement, but in all honestly, I suspect Sony will react to make this whole thing a non-issue. They aren't that stupid.

Main reason why they were able to compete with Nintendo, was because the two companies originally collaborated on the Playstation Disc tech to be used for a Nintendo console, but something happened and Nintendo backed down, leaving Sony with the patents. Basically a big mis-step on Nintendos part, but even that shows part of the cunning that Sony has behind it.

Oh, let's not get Sega into this. The Saturn was a Mega-CD enhanced to have better graphics, but still had problems handling 3D. The Dreamcast had everything to be a great console (in fact I think it has one of the most beatiful and awesome games ever, Shenmue), but the developers didn't put much effort in making games :/. It's a sad story, because the Dreamcast was too good for its time. Then came the PS2 and the Gamecube fiasco. Nintendo screwed it up also with the N64 and the Gamecube, but managed to save his ass from Microsoft and Sony with the release of the innovative Wii.

On-topic: I think Sony will revert the situation. The PS3 has a lot of potential to be an amazing console.

There's nothing Sony can do short of lowering console prices to boost Activision's support, and several people from Sony have bluntly said no. :f6:
