Great Endings
#1
A month or two ago when I first heard about Code Geass, I thought the premise was kinda lame and that it would turn out to be another Gundam ripoff. I was very pleasantly surprised, given the story developed quite well and the ending is one of the best endings I've seen in any series.

What are some of Southperry's favorite (or not so favorite) series' endings?

One of my least favorite was that of Trigun. Really pisses me off when they can't seem to tie up all the loose ends.

Did you watch R2?

Yeah. My basis for the outstanding ending of the series is based upon R2. The first time I watched it I didn't catch on to the plan until the end, and that's not something that happens often enough.

Elfen Lied had a decent 'anime' ending, but it wasn't a happy ending, I guess. The creator did it in one of those "Haha, I made it like this so you have the guess what happened to that character!" kinda styles.

 Spoiler

I like how the ending left a possibility for a continuation, plus it was bad ass.

I'm sorry, it's just that after thinking about it I thought it would be too obvious so I didn't go through with it. Forgive me. ;_;

I SECOND THIS.

Bebop's ending was great. Like you said, it tied everything up but left it open for more to happen.

And "Tank" is still the most badass intro song on the face of the planet.

I guess I'll moan about the bad endings, since the atmosphere here is way too happy at the moment.

Mai-Hime: Sure taking the target audience its ok. But what the ass does it ever slap anyone in the face who thought it would be decent.

Soul Eater: Makes sense. Still huge rage.

Negima!: Way2fuckup last few episodes.

Most amazingest ending ever would have to be School Days.

I would really like to finish Soul Eater soon. The guy who did the subs of it I used to watch got a Cease and Desist and had to.. yeah. I really started getting into it, then I couldn't finish it. :<

Soul Eater's anime ending was a bad joke, simply put.

Cowboy Bebop, 'nuff said.

The ending seriously made me cry, which doesn't happen easily. I wish it had been longer, but at the same time I don't. It is perfect the way it is Smile

Taking advantage of the 6 month old bump, I have to say Law of Ueki was the best 'feel good' ending ever.

@Yotspidey Clannad's ending probably seem rushed because it was changed from the VN. From what I've heard about AS (haven't watched it yet, since I didn't finish the game's AS yet), they kept it closer to the game.

Of course, that's only because in the game they get together after knowing each other for like... 10 days... and that wouldn't allow them to fit in Fuko and Kotomi's arc before it, since they can't really co-exist.

Shana's not over, silly.

Yeah, I read the VN. I think the problem with season 1 is that they tried to fit too much into it. They tried to juggle everyone's routes together and mesh them into a superroute (this isn't the only anime adaptation of a VN to do this, this is very common really), so ended up having less time to focus on the main story.

I felt the ending to season 2 was a bad way to wrap up the arc, even if the series itself isn't finished. As I said, perhaps the novel did it better and JC Staff messed it up.
