Nexon kicks you in the throat; you recieve one more more week of a shitty patch

no patch today so it ends next week when they do patch.

I don't get what a huge deal it is, they do a little better, have some tech. difficulties, and have to push it back a week. I understand this patch is already falling apart and useless, but it isn't like a rollback by a month or anything. They have gotten better, and you cannot deny it. People need to stop trying to expect nexon to be even vaguely good.

Stop trying to expect nexon to be a perfect company like blizzard or something, it never will happen.

It's not the fact that they pushed back the patch. That's not important - who cares. The fact is that they weren't open about it. They just changed an image. If they had said, "We're having problems and have to push the patch back a week." That's fine. I don't care. It's plainly obvious that they've been having a lot of technical difficulties lately and they need to fix those, and every business has problems at some point. However, the way in which they pushed the patch back by covering it up with no announcement was evil.

In previous announcements they've fessed up to their mistakes. Why did they decide not to do it for this one? I could have even empathized with them had they been open, but not if they pull stuff like this. It's for reasons like this that people flock to PServers; love the game, hate the company. If only Nexon would realize this and kick their own ass into gear they wouldn't have such a problem.

Blizzard is far from a perfect company. While they may have done well with the games they've created, whereas most of their time and money is now spent on World of Warcraft, they've pretty much given up on what is their bread and butter, the other games they've made like D2 and Starcraft which made them well known. I can see the point in putting every develper you have work on new games, but if you have games being maintained already, you should at least put a bit more effort into trying to keep them maintained.

If anything, Blizzard is by far the most unperfect company out there, and their real ambitions far exceed any person's thoughts. I could post a list of crap they've pulled, but I fear it'd be too long to post Tongue

As far as Nexon goes, as of November last year, I thought the company and Maplestory were going straight down the drain, but I was surprised to see how much effort they've put back into the game. So may it be a week or a month away, this event is far better than most any of the Summer events we've ever had on Maple before, so let them take their time! Wink

Here's hoping they keep the EXP curve permanently \o/

Darunia Wrote:Is it just me, or did anyone else notice that the date of the events was placed rather oddly? Instead of being placed at the top where it normally is (Shown here. Link.), it was placed specifically on the "Finding Master M" event.

This leads me to believe that the date posted on the poster (Shown here. Link.) is specifically for the "Finding Master M" event. Considering everything else on the poster is permanent unlike the "Finding Master M" event, I think this might be the case.

Quote from the "Finding Master M" event: "This summer" 6-24-09 ~ 8-25-09

The date looks like summer to me.

Considering everything but the "Finding Master M" event is permanent, I think we should wait 'till Wednesday before we jump to conclusions.

These are just my thoughts on the matter, I could be completely wrong. :]

Looks like I may be right. :x

You know what pisses me off most about this patch? My HS mule runs on a comp thats about 9 and a half years old, and then i have another comp downstairs i use, and then my main PC in my room which has a few users.

Anyways, what makes me mad is to get them all patched (even by using copy/paste after i patch once) is going to take hours. now, once a month is nothing, but now i have to do it twice in one week.

What i dont understand is why we need a patch to extend the event. The only logical explanation to me is that theyre adding most of the TT data now, so the next patch is smaller.

possible, i dont see why it would take 6 hours for an event extension patch.

Well, as far as i know all the quests are server sided anyways arent they? So, wouldnt they be able to do a simple check to change that? Were the exp tables adjusted client or server sided? I assume client sided, so it would require a patch to change them, not to keep them the way they are.

I just dont see why a patch would be needed, since theyre not "changing" anything really.

The only one i see that would maybe require a patch would be:
b. Inability to restock throwing stars and bullet bug fixed.

And to be honest, i dont think it'd warrant a patch just to fix that (assuming its what i think it is. I guess i didnt try to refill my NL's stars today or whatever, but im pretty sure my buddies would have been bitching about it if they couldnt refill stars.)

And yeah, 6 hours for a patch to just do that? I dont see the logic in it. Then again, if theyre JUST adding stuff, i dont see why its needed.

The only other thing i can think of is if theyre doing something to stabilize the servers or something. With the errors lately, maybe there was something theyre fixing with the coding to prevent that (lolright)

Just my thoughts. I can wait another week for this guy, but having 2 patches seems ridiculous. Tongue1

I believe TT data was added a long time ago back in GMS...

I have no clue what they're throwing in this patch to make it 6 hours. >.>

Nexon has had long Patches to fix bugs with no new content before, so nothing surprising about this one for me...

The quests are client side, NPC scripts are both client and server side. And things like the lightbulb above the head only work if the information agrees (saying you can start the quest). Like the problem with the 7th day market bulb, except that when the quest availability ends on the 16th, nobody can see they're still available according to the server.

The patch notice I finally posted was originally posted by them at 3:55 PT.

They just aren't very synchronized about things like this.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

I don't think there would be a change in the amount of complaints if they openly changed it.
