That was actually one of my favorite parts..
"The pencil trick" *wink wink*
and the little stuff that Heath ledger did was just outstanding and so crazy..
Like when he got the glass of wine and emptied it and drank it and threw it..
Like what the hell? Stuff like that makes a movie outstanding D:

Films that aren't afraid to do the dirty deeds ("I'm going to make this pencil...*licks his lip*...disappear") and are genuine. Sin City was another good showing of this. Stop with these toned down, family friendly, halfway there but still so far, movies. This here shows exactly what kind of movies people like. What people TRULY want to see.
Yeah, like this movie:

The movie was perfect.
It has some small issues but nothing that takes away from the film at all. The characters were great, especially Ledger's Joker which seemed to channeling the murderous clever psychopath of the classic Joker from the earlier days of the Joker comic book character.
The twists in the plot and the way the movie also analyzes hero and villain archetypes and what they mean was a great touch. It really gave some powerful energy to Harvey Dent's portion of the story as well as Joker's and Batman's leading to that awesome climax at the end with Two Face.
Another thing I'm loving is that this movie did well in portraying the Keysi fighting system much better then the first movie did. You actually see all the hammer fists and elbow strikes and arm and shoulder control moves though it disappointed me he ended most of the enemies with a simple punch.
Plus, it also gave us the gritty realism of reality with people getting hurt and at times dying in small moments. Nothing was over played in a dramatic fashion or not shown, it was all real and made you flinch.
I really hope this sets a precedent for the studios making the up coming comic book movies for both Marvel and DC and whatever others to do a good job and not settle for bare minimums and mediocre finished work anymore.
We want happy accidents and strong movie making with good acting, good writing, and good cinematography with touches of 3D and computer graphics if needed to enhance moments that can't be done with the previously mentioned things.
Marvel accomplished this with Iron Man bringing the strong leading man of Rodney Downey Jr into the role of Tony Stark which made the movie and the use of NURB based 3D modeling for the suit didn't ruin anything, it made the movie better. Also, the good acting by a majority of the cast only made the movie stronger.
Now with the Dark Knight the excellent acting skills of everyone on set plus the awesome special effects and special make up effects for Joker and Two face created a powerful comic book hero film. And like Downey Jr before him, Ledger really took this role and made it his own. Sadly, he took his method acting to a level that's dangerous and it partially added to his tragic death.
Here's hoping Watchmen can create for us a hat trick of strong acting and great move making.

Well its better than seeing "BAM!" and "POW!"
But I agree, the close camera action and darkness in the first movie didnt show enough of the close combat. It was definately an improvement

It has Samuel L Jackson......it has to be awesome
I also read in a interview somewhere that Jack Nicholson was "insulted" that he wasn't contacted by Ledger. He expected Ledger to ask him how to portray the Joker, and be able to see its incarnaction first hand.
As good as Nicholson was, he needs to get over himself. American icon or not, the fact that he thought he was entitled to see the filming and be on set to give pointers....thats ridiculous.
O and this is from wikipedia, notes on the first Batman's "Joker" (the one with Michael Keaton)
Honestly, I didnt know he was that greedy.....

They also really screwed up because they told Jack that they were going to give the role to Robin Williams, and even went as far as contacting him and giving him an offer, just to get Jack to sign on. When Robin's found out he was bait, he was apparently furious. When they offered him the role as the Riddler later on, he told them to go pineapple themselves. Great stuff.

I would say that this is the BEST Harvey Dent portrayal I've seen yet, as well as a damn fine Two Face as well. Definitely ahead of the animated portrayal in my eyes for not just making him a bad guy, but instead making him out as a real person who was doing what he thought was right.

It was glorious. Simply glorious.
I saw it midnight opening night, and there were five theatres full of people. The line was like an hour long (we all had prepaid tickets). It is sold out all weekend in my town. AHHH! For a good reason, too!!!

I saw this at 10:30PM on opening day. We were in line for 2 hours to get in. My friend bought the tickets six hours ahead of time and they were almost sold out already. And now, I am going to find a copy to either download or stream so i can watch it again.
