Here's what comes to mind at this moment.
Ignore the homeless people, there's too many of them. Also, ignore the people without limbs (they most likely removed them themselves), the one with children and the ones with animals (I hate the ones with Monkeys). There's too many homeless people to worry about - sorry if this sounds bad.
In the summertime, be wary of bug bites as you could come down with a bad illness (from personal experience). It's going to be hella hot and sunny so be prepared for that too.
Take advantage of the cheapness of everything, and if you go to a marketplace, it's nice to know the lowest acceptable prices for bargaining (hope your Chinese is good). Be tough - go with the lowest price then walk away, you'll get the deal for sure! Also, stick with people you know since it's very easy to get lost; especially if you don't know where anything is.
On the roads, be tough too. Don't be afraid of the cars running over you. Although many ignore the traffic laws, traffic lights and pedestrians just use your judgement and you'll be fine.
The food on the streets may smell good but the vendors/food are very dirty. Don't drink any tap water, buy bottled water.
Use disposable clothing, such as underwear and socks. Do not trust the cleanliness or quality of the washing machines in China.
When you buy the *fan ban* movies and dramas, dispose of all the packaging and put the discs in CD Cases - for Customs.
