[Horntail] First time going as Corsair

Level 174, max boat = 148k HP boat

Total HP with HB roughly 10.2k

Pretty much tanked it through everything during main fight except for obvious 1/1s which didn't happen much. We tend to kill right arm after wings but since we were being careful this time and were rusty, we finished off both arms at the end.

Basically here's my experience and what happened so people stop speculating "Corsairs are gonna suck at HT because half the time they'll be off their boat"

Run lasted roughly 1 hour and 30minutes.

Total amount of times boat broke: Roughly 10~12

Pre-heads: Boat didn't break and started at around 10~20% life left. After first head died, I broke it purposely from rocks before we started 2nd head.

Tail: Annoying. Wasn't sure if I should have gotten off to walk into the corner, or just go walk there on boat. I think I got off. Also, landing bullseye at the beginning was a pain because tail moves. Likewise, you start missing/hitting legs when tail rushes up. Boat broke once, twice max during this

Legs: Not that bad. Had a hard time figuring out if I was actually hitting it and if i got egg on it. Went down fast and I think boat broke once or not at all

Wings: Hit with egg, couldn't find bird, but saw shots land on wings. Glad this thing went away so boat would take less damage. Maybe 1~2 breaks

Right head: Just tedious and long. Boat broke about 2 times I think. Very easy to land egg on middle head though if right head or left head defs up

Left head: Same as right head, just less times getting hit

Middle head: Same as right and left, just less times getting hit

Arms: Easy, boat didn't break.

I didn't get sed [prolly borderline] so idk how that would work while being on boat. It'd prolly be wise to right click it if you get sed.

It may be annoying, but really boat doesn't break that often depending on your level and boat level.

Besides that, HS error -424532683 kicked in 15 sec after HT died T_T And my skillbook curse still lives on when i did 0/2 on mw20

tl;dr: Boat doesn't break every 10 seconds at horntail

Big Grin this is a good thing to know, as i am currentally aproaching the HT HP requirement of what some people have told me (4.7K hp clean)<--- i hope... and ive TANKED Zakum enough with my guild and have gotten the body kill exp like everytime since ive been 143(first run with them) till now (154) i was hopping be to be able to @ 160 figure i should be close enough to enough HP for it by then

Boat breaking 12 times = 18 mins off the boat, the run was approx ~100 mins so around 80% of the time you were on the boat. I guess the higher level you get, the less downtime you have.

That's really great news. I was worried that Battleship would break every minute or so. You were on Battleship for about 80% of the time so it's not too bad. Our DPS should still be in the top 5 classes based on that.

You were there :x. I'd say the absolute max time I was off boat was 30minutes which still is only 33%. Since the higher you get, the more HP your boat gets, it's better. I also don't know every animation and which ones they go with so if some obvious ones like fire or whatever, those can be dodgeable.

I know for sure though that on average, boat lasted 3min+ before breaking. 90 sec of RF also doesn't mean I'm sitting there doing nothing, just my damage isn't as high as it could be. People have continued on with boss runs where all SE dies/DCs so I don't see why RF makes a corsair completely useless (RF > NL w/o SE)

Well that's nice to hear. Are you experienced with ht on other chars ? Cause if not I guess that means this could be improved. I know I can dream every single one of ht's atks and I know what they do, and judging from that, I think you can keep your ship alive 100% of the time with only 2 heads remaining since their atks are quite easy to predict when you get the hang of it. Then again it might be better to just tank through it lol.

Also, during tail and legs, would it be better to keep yourself under the rocks? Since that's what I do on my bishop to save pots lol. It might work for sairs too, altough I'm not sure if you can keep atking consistently this way.

Yea, I've gone to numerous runs on my F/P. I just wanted to tank it first and see what would happen. Downside to taking rock damage is it resets canon, meaning you can't spam and it breaks the rhythm (Really easy to see this if you try to spam canon on a "thorn bush" such as the one at Geist Rog)

I don't think it's good to try and avoid every attack, maybe just the hard hitting ones. The attacks do come out a lot faster than at Zakum. Maybe with more experience it'll be easier, kind of like training and how easy it seems now compared to when you just start out.

Just to add on - I've also noticed that as my ship's HP increases, there's less and less of a need to dodge attacks at all. My 52k ship lasts a good while at Pap and all I dodge are the summons and 1/1. When I was a lower level Corsair I'd always try to dodge everything but once you get a soild amount of HP you realize that the ship is pretty damn durable and 100k HP or whatever is actually quite a lot. You're not taking constant and heavy damage from the boss every 2 seconds.

That's pretty nice and glad to hear it went well (except hackshield error). Better luck next time when you scroll your mw 20. How was the bullet and pot consumption there for one and a half hours of HT?

I carry like 20~22 sets of bullets, used like 10 i think. Most people carry enough to do a 4 hour session so they should be fine.

For pots:

Honsters = around 300~500
Ales = 100~150

Yeah Corsairs are good class. But just a small correction.
RF w/o SE= TT w/o SE

They are both about the same. (with onyx apple)

Can you tell me your min and max damage for battleship cannon with onyx apple?
Trying to do some calc on corsair's DPS. =P Thanks.

well to this Without using any Bullseye and attacking skeles with a Max Range of 47XX im topping ~ 168XX damage with a min ~ 8K (without apple) i thinnnnk my max range with apple is ~ 73XX-76XX, i never check it when im attacking @ Zak, always to busy ksing EVERYONE Tongue

and @ Rapid = TT all i say is

Rapid clears it by a lot a WOPPING 784 assuming those statsTongue thats a lot more damage.. even over 1 min 47040 more damage Tongue lol i never really read into that, but i guess if theres no SE or SI.... i can just use Rapid fire to ks a NL instead of using Cannon Tongue

I dunno if your being sarcastic or not, but that 784 easily falls within the range of varying equips and stats. A lot of higher numbers would too, but 784 is really insignificant.

Although if this was the other way around, I'm sure NLs would be holding it high above corsairs that they do a whole 784 more!

Most people will say either 4.7k is minimum, 4.9k to be 100% safe. Or something like that. I went with 5,031 and lived at tail. At least till HB ran out Frown

At HT people use apples. since NL get higher boost from apples than corsairs. in the end NL will have a slightly higher dmg than Corsairs with rapid fire.

with apple NO SE NO SI
TT>RF
not a big different at all.

What is your minimum and maximum dmg with apple. too lazy to do calculations using your range. i prefer the actual dmg.

I just had my first run as corsair and it was pretty sweet. The boat thing is so true. My boat like 2-3 times at most got hit during prelims since I was too slow to dismount. My boat broke most the time during legs, tail, and wings but after that, it was easier to see HT's attacks and to dismount them. Overall boat does last awhile.
