The effects of Maker on the economy
#1
Just wondering, with the major inflation that's bound to happen to ores/jewels/crystals/etc, and the high availability of said ores from normal training, shouldn't everything else inflate as well? I mean, when a lv 10 can get sapphires from slimes, the potential for easy money gets a bit absurd, and everything else should realistically inflate to match. At least until Maker meso-sinks enough of the economy to lower ore prices, which may not actually happen due to high Eval cost for them...

Thoughts?

Erm...I know, that's why I was asking - it's fairly easy to get 10 diamond ores in the space of an hour training, which is a few mil. With anyone and everyone able to get ores from nearly anything, everyone would be making millions of mesos, which would cause everything to inflate due to everyone having more money,

Well no. This is just passing of money from person to person.

Unlike mSEAs newcomer quest bug which the system actually MADE more mesos.

Right, but something has to give -
Either the ores can't inflate to ridiculous proportions due to lack of money in the economy, or everything else inflates with them. You can't suddenly have ores skyrocket in price without affect on the economy. When more of the general player-base has access to high-value items, inflation is inevitable.

no inflation whatsoever here.

Might be hard to say now, because the gap between NPC bought equips and the start of Maker equips isnt even noticeable. Where people would now be able to make an equip with better stats than normal if they put the little bit of time into it to hunt the crystals and such themselves, making the 50+ equips gotten as drops actually drop in price (usually average equips tho). Where you may pay 350k for an average armor to use at 60, it may drop 100k or more as it is now makeable with better stats for about the same price as before.

There is, however, a chance that scrolls may go up in price, as people will now most likely be scrolling new equips after making a better clean on with maker. Also, prescrolled items will take a hit a lil ways down the road as people see the uses of maker more clearly.

Well, looks like a good time to scroll the hell out of my Zakum Helmet and trying to downgrade from a 20 DEX overall to a cheaper 10ish overall. I'd like to sell my 20 DEX Brown Pollard for over 100m while I still can. Goggleemoticon

Hmm, maker actually removes mesos from the market. For every enhancement from wisdom crystal to basic wisdom crystal, 110k is needed; basic to intermediate, 330k is needed; intermediate to advanced, 550k is needed. (if I remember correctly)

For me, I spent about 15m (ie 15m taken away from economy, if I remember correctly) just to make an advanced wisdom crystal. The rest is just an exchange of mesos.. I think.

Yups.

There are town donation system in MSEA too, where every different town has it's own donation NPC.
Highest meso donor gets the medal and it last for a month.

If I remember correctly, the highest donation for each town is nearly 50mill to 500mill.
The bad thing about it is that it filter out the highest donation amount of money, if you fail to donate higher than that the meso you donated will be gone for good.

Poor MSEA ;( Our meso are sinking real badly everyday ever since v.72

Regular weapons and armors will probably deflate because you can forge them in Maker and get average stats (If not used a Crystal or something to improve the stats), and items that are above average will inflate.

here diamonds will be 1m because we have lots of diamonds from apq so much less than msea

On the first day maker is out in GMS, billions of mesos will be removed from the economy just from diamond appraising. I know I will be spending over 400m myself. Smile

My question is - did Maker's release in JMS decrease the massive inflation they have there?

Is it better to sell your whole stash on day 1, or wait for the supply to run low?

No kidding...
I expect the servers to implode under the vast weight of meso suckage as everyone drains thier pockets to discover noone wants to buy because they've all got their own.

Thank goodness for lazy rich players. Rolleyes
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

prices of new things tend to start up very high and drop down as time passes. I'd imagine that the same will apply for maker: as more time passes, more people discover maker and start appraising jewels, more graded jewel sellers come into the market. Competition = lower prices.

As soon as you hit level 50, you want your own ores (whether you make them yourself, buy pre-appraised, or pre-forged gear)... money pushed into lower level chars will just be spent again at that point.

This probably helps lukless magicians the most since they don't need maker. Maybe the dexless thieves too.

It might cause inflation in items that can't be made with maker (Lamas, Wisdom staffs, WG/SCGs, Sauna robes etc.) since the people buying them will have more cash from selling ores. But items that can be made with maker will end up worth less for similar stats (20 str top, 20 stat overall etc.)

The maker skill actually helped mapleseas economy. Those high levels who glitched the newcomer quests we suspended and the remaining money are mostly used on sapphires and diamond forging. Sapphires surprisingly costs more than a diamond in bootes.

I'll inflate diamonds in bootes soon Rolleyes I been mass clearing them since last week ^^

Which is why I plan to simply sell unappraised stuff.
