Time Temple will be a good place in my opinion, even for mages. It's just that all you mages are too used to using your ultimates. Remember you have other skills to kill monsters with too, not just your ultimates. Go check some of the I/L vids from KMS, they can kill the monsters in Time Temple pretty fast with Chain Lightning and Ifrit.
Though if you want to stay with just the boring and fast training with your ultimates, then yeah Time Temple will be useless for you and you should stay with Leafre. I'll be happy when this comes, I want something else than Skelegons. Not sure if it'll be faster though, but it should be more fun again for a while.

I'm looking foreward to doing the 999 quests for the ice monsters. I can just seal -> CL and me and ifrit will pwn their asses.

Time Temple is definitely not a place to spam the ultimates. The map layout is great, yes, but the spawn of the monsters is too widespread to be able to maximise your ultimate every time you spam it. You'll have to keep moving around.

some maps have pretty heavy spawn... given the area of effect you could use them just fine... if the exp is any good though, we'll have to see =P i've read some maps work pretty good sharing with a mage/bishop and an attack or two

I've never really seen any appeal for the new maps. The only people it would necessarily benefit are those that overdamage existing monsters, and that would almost certainly be Archmages. The EXP/HP ratio for the monsters is blah compared to Skeles, and the spawn is widely spread apart. Skeles and newties are also snipeable and done so far more conveniently. Time Temple monsters, on the other hand, are spread apart, which always reduces EXP/Hr. I think the same people that have been anticipating this release are the ones that were making threads daily about Ghost Tow--- I mean Showa and how it HAD to be released because it was just.that.godly. Lol.

Lol. There are teleports between the platfoms. Time Temple was the first area designed with 4th job skills in mind. You can't spam ultimates in one place and hit everything, but you can move back and forth fairly quickly. Higher HP and EXP also means less moving around required. It's not all about exp ratio. If I 2hko Skeles for 4500 exp and 3hko Captains of Oblivion for 7k, I'm going to want to kill Captains. Showa came out with a nerfed Armory, and we had higher level spots already. Time Temple isn't the same deal.

Not to mention an AM could train at Regret Mobs with just CL and ifrit if you wanted to. 1.5X damage. In fact, if the exp/hr isn't absolutely horrible, I might train there because it would cost signifigantly less than training at Newties.

LightningZLaser Wrote:But I think TT is best for Night Lords and Captains. Skelegons can spawn extremely close to each other and it can be a pain for NL and Capt to train there. I don't see why that would bother Corsairs (Captains), seeing as they have a good mobbing skill and no minimum range. And even if training in TT beats skeles/newties solo for most classes, would it be better than skeles with a bishop/AM?

Well considering I only get 6.5-7m exp/hr soloing Newties and Skeles and 10-11 with a 2hko Bishop at Skeles, I'd say no. I don't think Time Temple will be that much of an improvement. I'm expecting to get maybe 7.5m exp/hr at my level on Oracles of Oblivion. ...and yeah, lol, Skeles are insanely easy for Corsairs. Freeze -> Torp Torp Torp Torp, Air Strike, repeat.

I'm an archmage, and I'm seriously tempted to put this quote in my sig =/ But on a different note, this place can still be good for mages if we use CL/summons/demon skills. It's actually decent experience at leafre, so I'm sure it's great at time temple. One thing we do have that bishops don't is the ability to train with other skills other than our ultimates, bishops kinda have to either party or use genesis.

If I 2hko Skeles for 4500 exp and 3hko Captains of Oblivion for 7k, I'm going to want to kill Captains. Precisely my point about overdamage. I know a lot of bishops that easily do 60-70K per gen, but you only really need 42.5K to 2hit skeles. The overdamage issue only really pertains significantly to archmages, who 2hit the giant captain things with meteo the same time they 2hit skeles, since the monsters have such enormous amounts of HP. The biggest thing I think is that most people can barely 2hit or 3hit skeles in the first place (mages aside), which is why I'm thinking a lot of the guys that are all hyped up about this are going to be disappointed. Even the idea that you can CL or Paralyze your way through this place....maybe for like 6M EXP/Hr >_>;; |
