Sparks, or crit?
#1
For a striker, what would be better overall?

From the skill tables crit is 40% chance for +100% damage. Sparks is 100% chance of +120% damage to 3 monsters at max.

Clearly sparks out damages crit on 2 monsters. Why does no one like sparks? Does it's damage half like CL or energy orb?

i'm pretty sure sparks is just an add-on to the Lightning Sprite, not an actual attack. that maybe why, i'm not sure.

gratz on bucc, steve. i made outlaw finally >.< when you going on windia again?

Not sure how Sparks' damage works, but Crit is a 40% chance for +100% damage and applies on each hit of every attack. Shark wave hits up to 6 times and Barrage hits "10" times.

it depends on how sparks works. i'm petty sure you cast it, and while your Lightning Sprite is out, it'll use Sparks attack in the time period both are cast. that's what i think, i'm not entirely sure how the skill works either. but i would go crit, myself. >.< although, i'm probably never gonna make a striker anyways...maybe a brawler at one point >.>

No no, Sparks causes your attacks to have a chain Lightning effect if other monsters are in range. It has nothing to do with the Sprite. I dunno what the 120% damage means, is what I'm saying.

Guess that shows my knowledge of bowman's crit. xD

I'll try and find a video of sparks then.

@ syl: Don't know.

People like sparks.
It just isn't a super priority.
Well, maybe when it gets to gMS.
There are not that many lightning weak monsters so it would be best to get the regular damage things out of the way.
By the time Sharks and Crit at at a great deal to do some damage sparks would be your best bet to pump into, which would be around level 84 I think.
By then you could atleast try your best at Spirit Vikings and by the time sparks is maxed you'll be pwned them.
This is coming from a noob striker >_>;''''
Things will probably be different in gMS because of your lower level lightning weak monsters. xD

Our higher level lightning weak monsters are the same as yours though. :/ Sparks doesn't even come into play at slimies because they suck compared to WRs after 70, and windraiders aren't weak to lightning. xD

By the way, Sparks isn't for the Sprite. As far as I can tell, it looks like when you 'cast' sparks, it activates as a passive attack. I would say Critical is better because it'll give more damage over time than Sparks would. I'm not 100% certain, though. If it were up to me, I'd get a few points in both to try them out, then max the one I believe is better.

I plan on maxing crit,
just cause I like crit. Sad
and you will want to max both, both are very important.
For a striker it is completely unnecessary to max Shock Wave because of Shark Wave and the ability to use skills in transform now.
So my best bet will be to not max shock wave if that dilemma comes up, but I don't expect it too.

I never made it clear what my build was though.

Obviously i don't plan on putting any points into shockwave. The point of the question is which of the two skills to max FIRST.

Oh,
first you say!
Crit still seem like a more reliable choice. :/
I'm not sure.

I'm going Sharks > Critical > Sparks.

If I understood right, then Sparks would most likely benefit mob crowded area, which would be perfect for Typhons. : )

lol typhoos.
That sounds hard as a striker to go to typhoos, jumping and all hoping not to fall.

My Brawler has been at Typhons from level 95 to 125. : |

Sharks is going to make training there way easier and so is Sparks. Even though I don't fall much now, maybe once an hour.

So that's what i kept seeing in that video...

You can clearly see that chain lightning-like skill activating every now and then in this video.
And sorry Loose, but it doesn't look like the sharks can activate Sparks =/

Then again, i was too distracted by the awesome background music to pay close attention to it.

EDIT:
Looks like my video doesn't work.
This is the link to the video:
