Leeched Corsair
#1
I can leech myself if I want to but people always have a negative vibe towards leeched corsairs. My guildmate told me to "have fun leeching to 200." How can I learn to play my pirate and be able to train fast? I asked some pro corsairs I know about this and one friend told me to practice my skills at pap. I'll probably train to level 70 so I get a feel for the class (so far its been really fun!). Any suggestions?

It's not that hard. I find a shadower harder but really, you can learn in a day easy. When you get high enough, all you do is

- Use ice
- Get on ship
- Canon/Torpedo
- Get off ship
- Recoil to next mob
- Repeat

Or do ice on another mob, etc. I really only use ice, canon, and torpedo to train. It feels really smooth after you get used to it.

For the record, I leeched. The only thing I may do differently is when I'm high 17x/low 18x and can kill the "3rd platform" in skeles [1st being top, 4th being botton] with 2 air strikes so I never have to go up except for HS [unless bishop is training partner]

Uhh... I have to mention a quirk I have. I absolutely don't like to train with others. I'd rather level two characters. :x

B> godly labtop so I can skele with my bishop Big Grin

But yeah that doesn't sound too hard. At least in videos it doesn't look hard.

Once you get to high 14x or max ship early i don't think there's a lot of skill needed anymore. The ship will be damn hard to break. Otherwise the only controlling techniques you would use is 1) training or 2) bossing, but 1 doesn't matter anyway and 2 evaporates in difficulty as you progress.

rofl, you've got a level 175 Arch and a 165 Bishop and you actually get bugged by others in regards to leveling without leech?

Don't get me wrong, you Mages as an entire have it easy throughout all of 4th, but damn, my Shadower's almost 16x and I'd feel no regret in leeching myself up another character. I'm getting real tired of the whole "blah blah you leeched your character therefore I'm better than you" garbage; this is Maple Story, and no true skill is required. If you could endure 175 levels on one character, and 165 on another, why in the hell should you have to endure it again? You've done your time, and anyone that has a problem with you wanting to have a little bit more fun with yet another fourth-jobber should drop to their knees and suck your plantain before they tell you what's enjoyable and what isn't.

"How can I learn to play my pirate"
"I asked some pro corsairs I know about this and one friend told me to practice my skills at pap."

Let the bolded words emphasize how these "pro corsairs" have brainwashed you into thinking you're doing something wrong by leeching. 90% of the game's Corsairs are elitist pricks that feel as if they have truly conquered the simplest of kiddieshi't MMOs by creating a "unique" class without the use of leech. Their dicks go limp at the sight of Bishops and Archmages like you, as if you're all that is wrong in the game. Practice what? Learn what? Gunslingers and Outlaws are both shi'tty classes that are only played in hopes of reaching the barely promising 4th job, and people look at it like "OH, I GOT THROUGH GUNSLINGER AND OUTLAW, THEREFORE, DUE TO MY UNGODLY ENDURANCE AND IMPECCABLE JUMP-SHOTTING, I AM NOW READY TO BECOME A CORSAIR". Hell naw, it's not like that at all. Do you really want to put up with 120 levels of garbage and let-downs before you actually get to have some fun? There's no skill practicing, there's no class learning; if you don't get the hang of spamming your Battleship Cannon and Rapid Fire an hour after you make your job advance, then I'd be surprised you could hold down your Blizzard/Gen button with such efficiency. I'd like to ask you, being a stranger whom I've never conversed with neither on forums nor in game, to do me the courtesy of leeching your Corsair-to-be just to spite those who put you, along with any other person who wants some fun in such a BORAN GAME, down.

leech your corsair, don't be a platypus.

Play the game how you want to play it, as long as it doesn't effect others gameplay.

There is nothing wrong with leeching.

You should know how to control your character though. It's easy to train with a Corsair.

Greg said it all, really.

My best friend was tired of his Bishop and not being able to boss like he wanted to, so he decided to make himself a Corsair. He trained it to level 75 in the normal training spots and by doing quests. After that he leeched it like crazy at Harps, Wyverns and Skeles to 141. It didn't take him long at all to be able to "handle" playing it well. Dang, if you have the resources to do something like that, then by all means do it. The only thing I think is frickin' retarded is the idiots who buy leech, but whatever. lol

Ain't nothin' wrong with leeching.

I know I don't leech. I don't have a problem with leeching; I just have more fun training rather than leeching. Do what's fun. That's what Maplestory is all about.

The best way I see it in light of leechers:

1. Leeching yourself is fine, since you got a higher level to provide for you. I used to look down on this way of leeching, but on the other hand it's justified. You went through it once, why go through it again?
2. Buying leech from others for the sake of leveling by hanging on a rope and AFKing for over 9000 hours instead of partying is retarded.

These are the leechers I hate the most. I would rather see a person that is leeching + training with the person leeching the leecher then hanging on the rope for over 9000 hours.

pirates always look the best on a rope =] lawl xD,
do as u want enjoy the game Smile
#12
go to henesys and practive u recoil + wings i use them alot at training (recoil usley f3)

[SIZE=2]I don't know why people think leeching means you'll never learn how to play your character. Maple Story isn't a game that takes a lot of skill so it's easy to get the hang of a class after a few hours of training.

With the new KMS updates, it's very easy to get lazy while on Battleship because it takes forever to break when you max it. Corsair training is mostly just [B]how Kaasoljoyyx described it, just demount Battleship if you're about to be hit.
The great thing about Battleship is you can demount right when the attack hits and the ship still won't take any damage. Once you get the hang of it, it's very possible for Battleship to last for hours during training. Mine broke ONCE during Sunday's two hour 2x event.

pineapple you, Greg, some people actually enjoyed the first three jobs. Outlaws do not suck, and levelling my Gunslinger was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had on Maple for a while. If it wasn't for 2nd job being so much fun, I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have. I made my Corsair without any notion of being a powerful bossing class or anything, I'd quit Maple for about 5 months and playing a Pirate renewed my interest in the game.

On topic, I don't give a damn if you leech. Play the game for fun. My only concern is if you pass me on the rankings. Then I get upset =(
#15
The question you should be asking yourself is: do you want to play the game or let others play the game for you? Leeching is bad, no matter which way you put it.

He is playing the game, though, just on a different character. It's lazy, I suppose, but it's also much more efficient.

Opinion or fact? Goggleemoticon

Fact.

Hanging on a rope is not playing the game. Even if he leeches the Corsair with his Bishop, he still isn't playing it.
#19
leeching discussion again? D:

Anyway. Yes i leech myself with my own computer. I usually can't leech for long though, so i switch off every now and then to play on the buc to "learn" how to play.

On-topic: even if you don't "know" how to play on your character, what is there to learn really?

Just mess around on your corsair for an hour. You'll get the hang of it in due time. Practice makes perfect, so just play for the fun of it, not because you aren't "pro" at demounting or killing stuff yet.

He is however still playing his bishop, and still playing the game, also he isnt "Letting others play for him" as stated in your other post, he is playing for himself.

Not turning it into a moral debate, just pointing out that both of your examples fall short of what you seem to define leeching as.
