I've noticed a major quirk of macros, thought I'd share it and its many uses. Note that this is old information, but a lot of people may be unaware, or may not have thought of some of the uses I have for it.
Basically, macros fire off skills as soon as they possibly can. The main use for them is to save keyboard space, and as a secondary function they help to reduce time taken between buffs/attacks.
The fact that they fire off as soon as they are able, however, has an interesting side effect -
---If you use a skill in midair through macro, such as Rush, any mage attack, etc, that cannot normally be used in midair, it will activate the INSTANT you touch the ground. Combined with above-mentioned skills, this can be pretty useful.
Examples -
-Rushmacro = Land on edge of a platform and instantly push mobs away before you can fall. Also good for instantly rushing mobs after jump+attacking. In terms of usefulness, 5 stars. Having a Rush macro with no other skillslots used doesn't have any detrimental effects.
-Recoil+Wingsmacro = Instantly use Wings after landing from Recoil. VERY difficult to time the Recoil+Wings combo without at least Wings being in a macro. However, macroing them together means you still have to have a seperate keyslot for each skill individually, or else you'll either use Wings when you don't want to or have to use Recoil to use Wings. Putting Wings on its own macro and leaving Recoil as is accomplishes the same thing without the limitations. In terms of usefulness, 5 stars as well.
---If you name a macro involving Somersault Kick, the name will not show up, regardless of whether or not "Shout macro name" is turned on or off. Just good to know if you have " ____ Please" as a macro requesting assistance.
---Sometimes the order of skills can interfere with macros working successfully. See comments below about Strafe/Snipe. Some issues with skills with long cooldowns/delays or stunning effects (Dragon Roar) exist as well. L > Complete list of unmacroable or macroable with issues skills.
Any suggestions or other uses for this quirk will be mentioned as well.
