Is Nexon scamming us?

So, I'm pretty sure everyone knows about the cake event going on, and the random prizes we can supposedly get (the blue interserver notices we keep getting all day). So most prizes are crap, but i thought the 25k nx was pretty sweet, so i saved up 96 cake pieces, thinking I might have a better chance at a prize handing them all in at once. Long story short, got nothing.

Ok so this doesn't mean anything, maybe i just have terrible luck as i do with other things in maple like scrolling. I'll also ignore the fact that nobody i know has gotten anything, because maybe they have crappy luck too.

But then today, this:

Last time I checked, we couldn't make characters with server names (ex. mardia, khaini) in the IGN. This would mean that the so called winner is an account created by Nexon. I'm not saying every winner is fake, but given the past experiences with nexon's contests (banned accounts winning 1st prize, etc) it wouldn't surprise me at all.

So what do you guys think?

Not sure about the name, but what extreme exp gain? She gained like 70k exp. It's just the sheer number of level 40 characters on the rankings that make it seem like a lot.

Yeah nevermind about the exp gain, got pointed out to me it's normal. But the IGN is a definite giveaway.

Nexon has been on a name-changing spree recently. Maybe they're not making much and are trying to bring in extra profits by forcing stupid rules down our throats that they've let us slip by with before, but someone in my alliance got renamed today from GrannyPantez to Thornta or something dumb as hell like that.

It seems like nothing more than them just trying to rake in extra money. But yeah, there's a very real possibility that this is from one of their name changes.

The cake quest should give exp instead. 100k exp every 40 mins + the leaf quests would be great

There was a hack recently that allowed people to make chars with server names in them.

Which would meen that it was either Nexon or a hacker that won. Which is bad either way you look at it.

Alot of the people that won were either off-ranks or never existed at all, because I checked the rankings and did not find them.

I don't think it has to be a hacker or Nexon. I have a level 1 character in Kradia named KradianShift. Made it when Kradia first came out.

I remember someone saying that Kradia was not originally meant to be one of the servers we get, and so Kradia's name as an IGN was not blocked.

Yup, 'Kradia' can be part of your IGN. Got one of those myself.

Or just freakin' lucky. We can compare the amount of prizes to the amount of people that actually play, then we can see the chances of winning are very, very small.

I wouldn't doubt that the character was created BEFORE the TOS was revised. Kradia was NOT blocked as something in a person's IGN.

HSforKradia/SEforKradia anyone? Both were high level players.

You can edit the maple files to take out the restrictions on names.

Like I said, I don't think there are restrictions on some of the server names due to translating differences.

I confirm it is possible to make a character with a server name using a repacker. Well, never tried about it, but I guess it works.
