Want to pick up something new.
#1
Okay, so as the title suggests, I want some new anime to try out. I can't read Japanese, so I sometimes miss good series just because I don't know what the translation of the title is. (Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien was a good one that I almost missed.)

So I turn to the masses. Every fan has usually seen something that someone else hasn't, so I'm hoping for some suggestions. I want something obviously good, but it doesn't have to be the best ever, as you can never really say one is the best, just better than crap. Biggrin
A mindpineapple is fine by me, as is gore, etc. I just don't want to go through anime lists on wiki or animenfo.com and afterwards wishing I had hours of my life back.

A list (Short, most likely, by some people's standards.) of what I've already seen:
Full Metal Alchemist
Cowboy Bebop
Neon Genesis Evangelion
FLCL
Vandred part 1 & 2
Outlaw Star
Elfen Lied
Chobits
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Trigun
Excel Saga
Maburaho
Puni Puni Poemi
Samurai Champloo
Love Hina (and LH Again)
Please Teacher/Twins
Metropolis

Something like Maburaho I wish I had my hours back. Rolleyes

So, feel free to use this thread to talk about your favorite animes, because it'll help me either way. Wink

Battle Angel (Alita) - not recommended if you don't like gore and sad endings. Sci-fi, an abandon android tries to find her meaning in the world. She lives with the lowest class of society.
Arm of Kannon - I forgot what it was about but it's so-so.
Parasite (Parasyte) - An alien infects a boy's arm and now together they try to find others hidden in human form before the alien devours the human race.
Mai the Psychic Girl - girl learns she posses super natural power, evil organization trying to take over the world, etc.

Looked at a few, and they look pretty good, and you've all reminded me of ones I've wanted to pick up before. Keep em coming. Glitter

Bookmarked to keep forever. (Or at least until I've gotten them all.) Excellent

Manga is fine, throw me that list. Biggrin

The main reason why this list is anime is because I can't watch manga with my gf. Heart

ef - a tale of memories/melodies would probably be a good choice then.

ive got a small list, and smaller so that hasnt been said.

Gantz - People die, come back to life and must kill aliens to live and such (sex scenes and goreish, but mostly bewbs for the first)

Coyote Ragtime Show - Space theives, big amount of money stashed on a planet about to be destroyed, and they must get to it before then.

Havnt gotten too far into both of these. Gantz i got a season at Wal-Mart by pure chance for about 30 dollars less than normal. And Ragtime im only 1 season in aswell, still interesting to me at least.

I see sci-fi and slice of life with a mix of comedy in both.

I second:
Ghost in the Shell
Gurren Lagann
Black Lagoon
Geass
Baccano!
Ga-Rei Zero

and I add:
Minami-Ke (don't hurt yourself too much with the later seasons)
Mnemosyne
Mind Game (Movie)
Kannagi

QFFT.
Quoted for Chining truth.

Comedies
Kannagi
Zetsubou Sensei
Lucky Star
Hayate no Gotoku
Minami-ke

Horror
Higurashi
School Days

Romance/Drama
School Days
Clannad/After Story
Air
Kanon (2006)
ef - a tale of memories/melodies
true tears
ToraDora
REC

Currently airing
Eden of the East
Cross Game

Other (because I'm too lazy to keep going with this genre-sorting crap)
Gurren Lagann
Mushishi
Natsume Yuujinchou
Spice and Wolf
Code Geass
La Maison en Petits Cubes <--- (nobody ever watches this Oscar-winner :/)
Beck
Strike Witches

Basically, anything on my MAL that's 8 or above is something I would consider awesome.

Also, must-watch-at-any-cost things are in red (aka famous, generally-considered-way-beyond-incredible anime)

Unnecessarily long post is way too unnecessarily long.

Meh, I haven't watched a lot of stuff lately...

I'd suggest trying .hack//sign, though. Takes place inside an MMO. Goggleemoticon
