Quick SS checker
#1
Hello thar,

Whipped up a maple ss checker. Still in designing stages, but so far it works...I hope most of the time. Releasing it to the community to hope for feedback on whatever.

Thanks!

http://www.xosfere.com/sscheck/index.html

Edit:

Sorry I wasn't clear with the explanation. It checks to see if the screenshot someone provided has been altered or not.

Capabilities

-Checks screenshots taken directly on with MapleStory;
-Checks to see if the image has been saved with Photoshop (other programs to come);

I'm guessing it checks the EXIF data for the file to see if it was created by MapleStory's built-in SS taking mechanism or if it has been tampered with.

Needs fixing, though - I take all my screenshots with Fraps and save them as PNGs, so it'll tell me all my screenshots are edited.

@all the suspicious people: the link takes you to a page with no code except a simple form accepting a file. It's not a download or anything. Completely harmless.

I'd appreciate some explanation as to what this is supposed to be as well. At the moment, a link with no description or supporting information is just too suspicious, especially as I probably don't need whatever it is. Unless it's the cure for cancer, which I could use to make a quick buck.

Im gonna download it on my other pc, AVG shield tells me its safe.

EDIT (Notice the d00d appears offline)

download it...? It's just a PHP script.

Also, why is this one detected as a fake image?

I'd also like to see the script take a URL arg.

Also, I hope that this isn't the only thing you look for. If you're not already, I'd like to see the script looking for photoshop exif tags.

Sorry, again, at work = can't click suspicious things, so made an assumption.

Yea it works, its safe, and the goggle fake image may be because... Inventory is not shown. Also you CAN say nothing in the BL and it will still appear as a line so.... the BL text is edited too maybe.

Zomg, after searching for the download its not downloadable. Meaning, nothing is gonna harm ur pc.

I'd like to see the source code first before touching anything.

I think because that screenshot was from Fraps (based on the filename).

Anyway, this is pretty handy, thanks.

As for the goggles pic, I can confirm it's true since he's my friend.

Hey, thanks for the replies. I had a few mins before I left home and wanted to get this done. So I guess I was in a hurry and forgot to mention that it checks screen shots for tampering.

Only looking for other ways to identify images. The only thing I can think of is the "intel" tag.

I'm not sure how I would tackle the problem with people taking screen shots with their own programs.

Not really sure that's possible just due to the sheer number of programs that could possibly take a screenshot. Maybe just keep track of the most popular ones.

Okay...updated it I THINK it'll look for photoshop tags...I know it worked with my CS4, not sure about other versions. I'm going to get gimp...maybe if people could provide some pics edited with other programs that would be great.

Paint would be a big one to check for.

How many people actually use the built-in camera? Everyone I know uses fraps. xD

PrtScrn + paste in paint

That can still be a valid picture

True, but so would PrtScrn + paste in any image program.
